The route, the aftermath. About 800’ of elevation loss / gain over 200 yards.
Today I cleared a lane that’s left only about 15x50 left in the southwest quadrant. It was perfect weather- 75, clear sun and dry. It was a great 4th! To hands and knees grid search the initial 40’x90’box and this one took, per my gps tracks, 22.25 hours and covered 18.3 miles in total.

A very PNW day at Soda Fork. I laid out a 10,000 sq ft box on the hillside, then subdivided that in 2,500 sq ft boxes. I then cleared a 15x50 strip in one of them.
Someone had dog ice cream for the first time. This will backfire on me somehow
My birthday present to me arrived!! 4 Old English volumes (with facing page translations) from Dumbarton Oaks.
I cleared two additional 20’w x 40’l sections today. One to the north and one to the south of last week’s work. The only thing found was a ground hornet nest, which of course I found the hard way. I’m fine but my left hand and arm are pretty stung up 😂
When I talk about “grid searching” for remains or evidence, this is a good illustration of that. The first photo has my foot recons of the area (dark blue, brown, black) while the turquoise is the area searched on 6/6.
