I drove over an hour to find these orchids but I was a few days too late and the flowers were all droopy and wilting... Large whorled pogonia, Isotria verticillata, near May Prairie Natural Area. sigh. 🌼🐉✨

A large whorled pogonia orchid just past bloom. The green and red flower, which is supposed to be rather gorgeous, has wilted and is drooping limply over the five green leaves below it.

Was getting ready to leave for work when my roommate saw this Luna Moth fluttering around. I adore Luna Moths so I had to stop and get a pic!

Lit by the headlights of my car, the moth is clinging upside-down to a stick I'm holding here, fluffy face and tumby bared provocatively to the sky.

The Luna Moth is sitting on the ground, its huge green wings spread flat and showing off the four brown spots on them as well as the long trailing tail. It's probably a male Luna Moth, judging by the size of the antennae? Its wings are a bit tattered so it's probably toward the end of its little weeklong adult stage too...

Was walking along a trail in NW Nashville this morning and noticed these two Yellow-Flowered Horse Gentians (Triosteum angustifolium var. angustifolium) in bloom. What a great, lucky blind-find! 🌼🐉✨

A close-up of a small buttery-yellow, faintly-speckled trumpet-shaped flower blooming directly from a densely hairy plant stem, an unopened green bud on the opposite side. The narrow stem of the leaves also sprouts from the same point just below the flowers and their small, hairy sepals.

They were growing in a wooded floodplain in a thick carpet of other flowers such as Virginia Bluebells, Little Sweet Betsy trilliums, Jacob's-Ladder, Dwarf Larkspur, and of course the Spring Blue-Eyed Marys. This pic shows the obvious differences between the two trilliums. It's easy to tell. 🌼🐉✨

Two Lanceleaf Trilliums on the left and a Little Sweet Betsy on the right, all three in bloom. Although their flowers look very similar and are the same color the Lanceleaf Trilliums are much smaller overall and the bracts are very narrow (much longer than they are wide) and blade-shaped. The height and width of the petals are also a helpful tell, although it's a bit hard to see in this picture - the Lanceleaf Trilliums have petals which are usually thinner and taller than the Little Sweet Betsy's are.

Lanceleaf Trillium (Trillium lancifolium) blooming next to Spring Blue-Eyed Mary (Collinsia verna) near Lookout Mountain in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Both are fairly rare in the state. I went to Chattanooga in the hopes of seeing this trillium, and I'm glad I found some! 🌼🐉✨

A small sessile trillium flower with tall, narrow red petals in front of a patch of about a dozen spring blue-eyed marys, the blue and white flowers superficially resembling violets a little.

There's a conservation area northeast of Nashville that's one of the last remaining mesic forests in the central basin. I went there briefly today and was lucky enough to see a disjunct population of the rare Ozark Trillium (Trillium pusillum var. ozarkanum). They're ridiculously teeny tiny! 🌼🐉✨

A picture of another Ozark Trillium in bloom. The size of the twigs and leaves on the forest floor beneath it should give an idea of how small it was and how closely it sat to the ground. The whole plant was barely bigger than my own hand.

There were only about 14 trilliums in the patch, and about half of them were well past peak bloom. This one is getting there. Like the Great White Trillium, it's leaves change color to a deep magenta as it withers... In other words, like a Vinesauce corruption, it turns pink and dies.

a hyper-busty pink-and-white aeromorph named Starla whose design is based off a gulfstream business jet. She has an enormous lower lip and a rather large pussy, and she's flying through the air while pretending to giggle in an airheaded manner at one of her customer's unfunny jokes. I deleted the initial post because I forgor to toggle a layer with lip shine. Nobody will notice, right?

I had come up with this idea for an aeromorph gal ages ago, but finally here she is in awesome color. She's a Gulfstream charter jet for high-class folks. As an aeromorph, that basically makes her a call girl, right? She plays up the bimbo act because corporate morons eat that shit up like candy.

I just got very lucky and responded to an ad with an extremely blurry photo and mention of a mineral collection lol but it was a wonderful experience, I have photos and memorabilia that the owner's granddaughter gave to me. Stories too!!!

The storage unit, as it looked when I first opened the door. Boxes and boxes of minerals labeled with numbers, rarely with names, though I identified many of them roughly by sight. The granddaughter managed to find an old inventory sheet the day after which helped sort through some of the leftovers and give localities. He was particularly fond of fluorescent pieces so there were several milk crates' worth of old Franklin NJ material - I should really have taken more than just the one I grabbed but oh well! live and learn.

A hand-drawn map to all of the local mines and digging spots around Spruce Pine created by the owner of Greene's Mineral Shop as a freebie promo to give to tourists. At the time most of these were basically unattended and free to visit, and almost all of them are forgotten or closed or built over now.

Linton Green, date unknown, in his mineral shop, sometime in the 50s or 60s. One of the old photos emailed to me by his granddaughter. He was hired by the government to prospect for corundum during WWII and then as a consultant for construction on the Blue Ridge Parkway; that old storage unit was leftovers and dregs but there were things in it that are impossible to find anymore such as one-off localities or absurdly nice single crystals. I'm told the store had two beryl crystals in it from the 1800s the size of tree stumps that were stolen after he died - his granddaughter said it was probably family members because it happened immediately the night after the news broke. Imagine...

One of the other pieces of torbernite on pegmatite I have - the crystals are far smaller and more scattered. Next to it for scale is a postcard from the 1960s printed by Hugh Morton, the owner of Grandfather Mountain (now a state park and world heritage biosphere) depicting a collection of labeled tiny specimens of gemstones and minerals that could be found in North Carolina - notably including gold, emerald, sapphire, but also rutile, mica and uranium too.

an amorphous mass of "gummite" - a mass of mixed uranium minerals that can't really be ID'd resulting from the alteration of uraninite. There are black metallic crystals surrounding an amorphous mass of yellow and orange uranium minerals growing into them, all on a large piece of white pegmatite.

the box the gummite was in. The largest piece in the opposite corner has a lot of small crystals of autunite scattered over the top. The others are also white pegmatite but other than a pink/brown crystal that might be garnet or something else, it's hard to tell what they have on them of any significance.

I would NOT want to fuck with the dust that's collected in the bottom of the box there.

A piece of white pegmatite (feldspar and mica) in a cigar box with crystals of emerald green torbernite on top. The crystals are very small and delicate square-ish flakes. Quarter for scale.

A close-up of the torbernite (as best I can with phone anyway) for texture. In terms of crystal size and number this was the best piece I acquired from the old storage unit. I have others that are on far larger pieces of pegmatite, with maybe a larger number of crystals overall, but far smaller, more powdery, and less densely clustered.

Flaky bright yellow crystals of Autunite on the short end of a small piece of whitish pegmatite.

$A lumpy piece of anhedral (poorly-formed) dark grayish Samarskite with slight conchoidal fracturing and a greenish-yellow rind from oxidation. This one I actually had measured and it's not that hot... relatively speaking.$

Prairie Onion (I think?) beginning to bloom in a cedar glade on 8/13/25. They were popular with the pollinators. 🌼🐉✨

A cluster of flowers at the top of an onion plant. Growing in a roughly spherical arrangement at the end of slender pedicels that fan out from a central point at the end of the leafless stalk, the buds in the center which haven't opened are white while the flowers around the edges which have opened are an electric pink with golden anthers on long white stigma that extend far past the narrow blade-shaped petals. A bit more visually striking than the leek flowers I've seen in the mountains!

A pair of small butterflies is sipping on the nectar from the tiny onion flowers. Not the only pollinators I saw, but given many of the flowers at the cedar glade were past peak, these onions were attracting most of them.

A budding onion plant on a long, tall stalk popping out of a stream of flowing groundwater (along with a past-flower St. John's wort of some kind). The cedar glade has an extremely thin layer of topsoil so it alternates between extremely dry and flooded, and along one part of the trail there was a small drainage of standing water running alongside the bare rock. This was the only place the onions were growing, so I assume they must like it very wet despite the otherwise dry, sunny conditions.

It's been four months since I last did one of these. My big move and new job took a whole lot out of me! These are Tennessee Purple Coneflowers - caught them in a cedar glade towards the tail end of their bloom season on 8/13/25 earlier this year. 🌼🐉✨

Three Tennessee Purple Coneflowers with long, narrow, light magenta-colored ray florets blooming in a very dry, gravelly cedar glade area. They're composite flowers, so the middle section is actually a large, rounded cluster of the true flowers, but they're mostly done blooming and none of the tiny yellow stigma are visible - except for the smallest flower on the left, which is a little fresher. The tips of the ray florets are curled up and slightly wilty with age as well.

got a birthday sequence from www.furaffinity.net/user/simonaq... - this year I fell hard for the Temeraire novels, so this shows Rykela reading one of them and having a steamy, romantic imagine spot of herself in his world being courted by the enormous British gentledragon~

Rykela, an enormous hermaphroditic dragoness, is lounging back on a soft mattress and pile of cushions, kneading up on hir own enormous ballsack with hir feet. Shi's reading a novel with a blushing smile on hir face and is clearly very into it, making a huge cum pile on the floor that's letting off steaming scent clouds of musk.

This is what Rykela is imagining, more or less, except perhaps far larger and more mega-hyper than the picture is actually depicting. Shi's picturing hirself as a gorgeous, svelte and feminine feral dragon being courted by Temeraire himself, the two sailing ship-sized creatures cuddling together in a tangled pile and tenderly playing with each others' genitals while they freely and wantonly blast copious dragon-sized ropes of spunk in all directions. Leave it to an old British dragon to know how to properly woo a lady~
