Dangar’s Lagoon near Uralla, NSW Australia. A sanctuary for many species bird life, we saw and heard lots of water hens and black swans today.

There has to be a better way to do this than drink this awful stuff.

This is a sickly sweet and slightly thick drink that has to be taken within a ten minute period so that blood glucose levels can then be measured hourly for the next two hours. It has to be taken on an empty stomach. If it doesn’t stay down, the test ends and I have to come back.

My mum’s kangaroo paw.

Kangaroo paw - an Australian native plant. The image shows a red flower that looks kind of paw shaped but f you squint. It is bright red. In the background are some terracotta coloured pavers and a garden bed with brown mulch and some green plants. Also featured - a rubber snake to help keep the bush turkey off the garden.

Our local Italian Friendship Festival - Lisamore in Lismore NSW. Great food, gorgeous weather and a fantastic atmosphere. And some really great pistachio gelato.

Art matters. Connection matters. Relationships matter. Nature matters. They might be all that matter when we really get down to it. Let the world go for a moment, find some art, some connection, some relationships or some nature that you can be with for a while. Here’s my art play for today.

Image shows a a playful art exercise. It has rainbow colours in vertical, curved and uneven stripes with some white space either side. This was done by playing with watercolours and letting them dry. Then black lines and swirls were traced over the dried watercolour stripes in a way that was both satisfying to do and satisfying to look at. This art play requires zero art skill and can be done by anyone. You just need a simple cheap set of travel size watercolours, a single brush and a black pen. Oh - and some paper of course. It’s very relaxing. You should try it. :)

We collect rocks wherever we go. Always have. Beaches, creeks, fossicking. We bring the rocks indoors. We catalogue some and display some. For decades, I have said, “I really want a tumbler to polish these”. Well, I finally got one and have set it going with rocks we found and rocks we bought.
