#2026Media 20 - Campfire Cooking in Another World with my Absurd Skill (Season 1) Dad's Isekai Binge #3 I actually pushed this one into his radar. This is a better and more respectable Lv2 Isekai in every sense. Fel's a better Fenrir companion and Mukoda is a more interesting protag.

Fr Fel can fuckin get it he's too goddamn adorable and then Jonah's his dub VA ffs this is so cruel

Mappa doesn't miss and this show is a great demonstration of their animation style.

Like Lv2 Isekai, the protag is also unmotivated to do anything important in the setting but it's not the main focus of the narrative so I don't mind it here. His slow discovery of how insane his power is can be fun, and his interactions with Fel feel like an old couple bickering. Sui is also not a bad character to include in the group dynamic, I didn't hate them nearly as much as I feared I would.

The side characters being in and out is refreshing too. It makes me anticipate them eventually popping back up, but the series doesn't rush that sort of thing which I appreciate.

On another note I *really* don't like the Goddess characters that much and they're the only thing I'd dock points on this show for. Glad they're so forgotten even the main guy forgets to give them offerings.

#2026Media 19 - Handyman Saitou in Another World (Season 1) Dad's Isekai Binge #2 This one feels like a 4koma adaptation for a good long while until Saitou finds the new dungeon area. It's a chill DND style series and the core concept works well. Didn't expect softcore yuri on Episode 2 though.

Seriously it takes massive guts to show a cleric being a slut for masochism and blood and making up a fake narrative for why she should lick her fighter's wounds. This is early into the episode too, like it's crazy how fast they pulled that when the joke about measurements being a guy's cock is later on

The characters are definitely one-note but there's some highlights. Funny enough it's all the clerics and fairies as well as the wizard. Saitou is also an alright protag who finds his footing with his party.

#2026Media 18 - Chillin' In Another World with Level 2 Supercheat Powers Dad was on an isekai binge and found some stuff. This one was a fun watch and it seemed to at least try to avoid the genre's pitfalls by making the harem of girls useful. Demon King from this is a certified Smash though.

Okay so here goes a personal insight into isekai genre, here we go

I find the idea of an isekai protag who has no stakes in the other world's politics refreshing and ot was probably the right call to make here. I just don't think it's a particularly smart thing to promote or invoke is the thing, especially now with how things are headed due to people who've adopted such a mindset.

Also do NOT come into the replies about if "the manga is better" I'm literally just a foodie doing junk food drive-bys here. This one is like an alright veggie burger served with fried potstickers. It's trying to make something better for my body but it also has something I shouldn't be falling for and I still wound up eating a burger.

#2026Media 17 - GOAT Surprised by this movie. BF had me watch it. It's not doing anything new but I appreciated a lot of what it did well. Might lean a little too hard into the "ugliness" but this one's looking to be a certified hood classic. Also the furries are being animalistic here, 7/10

#2026Media 14 - Pokémon Soul Silver (2nd Gig) Yeah Chugga's LP got me in again. Games are solid when you just add conveniences like faster movement or gameplay and stop pushing an envelope nobody really wants to be focused on. Also Gen 4 is still one of the two peaks of the series.

My final team going in: Feraligatr, Noctowl, Arbok, Heracross, Mismagius, and Rhydon.

#2026Media 13 - Tribal Hunter I posted a review of this on the Steam Page already, other than that Ssseth was right this game is great even if you aren't into fat, vore, inflation, or weight gain Steam Page: store.steampowered.com/app/1379870/...

Even outside of some of this game's more overt details and focus on size, Tribal Hunter is a solid Metroidvania that isn't afraid to get a little silly or serious at times. I still wouldn't feel comfortable playing it in public, but I did feel comfortable 100%ing it.

The main tenants of Tribal Hunter, the weight gain and eating mechanics, work as an intuitive risk-reward system across the board and feel incredible to have a grip on. Balancing the easier navigation and faster mobility with bigger and stronger attacks feels obvious but it works like a charm, and it never feels too cumbersome to work with.

The character designs are all charming and appealing in their own ways. Characters like Lord Darkdread and Crusha feel unique and memorable, but even mook-like enemies like the countless pigs or even the Slime King feel distinct from similar offerings. Munch himself is a fantastic protagonist design, and a lot of his animations are cute to watch. There's even a skin system if you want to change his colors!

The music works alright. I'd say the final boss is a clear standout but even some of the biomes, especially early on, work well to set the tone. The story feels like the weakest link in this game, but even then it has some highlights especially in some of the optional things you can witness.

Overall I would highly recommend this for a good, shorter Metroidvania. Not quite as short as Worldless, but a lot more endearing and memorable.

Just don't blame the game if your clothes feel uncomfortable

#2026Media 12 - When I Met You in Tokyo Plane Movie #6 (Last one for now) Filipino Movie to close out my time overseas. Mom was watching this one but I was watching it thanks to subtitles. Very deep cuts with this one that pulled on my heart a few times. 7/10

#2026Media 11 - The Bad Guys 2 (2025) Plane Movie #5 Look I like the first one enough because it was a heist movie at its core and I eat that shit up. This one is less of a heist movie but I enjoyed it way more despite that. Pigtail and Doom are cute and the stakes felt solid at the end. 7/10

Also whoever edited this movie had 11/10 comedic timing. Nearly laughed my ass off at the sudden cut to a funeral scene at the end
