Sage Byrne@sagebyrne· 18d I received the second proof copy today. Quality-wise, they are nearly identical with the exception of the cover colors. This is a temporary cover until my artist completes the covers for the series. There were so many setbacks, I just pushed forward. Preference?

Sage Byrne@sagebyrne· 21d You never know who you're going to bump into in a #Florida swamp. There's a scene in Nereid Unbound where Nerissa is trapped in a swamp overnight. When she encounters the Gloom Shadows, alligators are the least of her worries.

Sage Byrne@sagebyrne· 22d This stone is know by many names: hag stone, witch's stone, fairy stone, etc. In Nereid Unbound, it is an amulet called a "watai." This one was discovered on a Florida beach. Just another example of #nature doing the heavy lifting when it comes to plot devices.

Sage Byrne@sagebyrne· 23d One of my supawvisors, Callie, giving feedback on how book three is progressing.
Fun fact: I wasn't even thinking about the similarity when I named the antagonist in my series "Calixtra." Her family often calls her "Cali."

Sage Byrne@sagebyrne· 26d *THIS* is the Florida spring that inspired a location in Nereid Unbound. Every time I visit it takes my breath away. Nature is amazing! This series is a Southern Gothic urban fantasy blending Choctaw and Greek mythology, mystery, and a secret that wont' stay buried.

Sage Byrne@sagebyrne· 27d Tonight I shared the first proof of Nereid Unbound with some of my #writing group over dinner. As we were leaving, I let them in on a little secret: the restaurant we were sitting in appears in the novel. 😊 I love weaving real places into my stories.

Sage Byrne@sagebyrne· 28d Finnegan, aka Finn, the dog in Nereid Unbound, is based off of my dog Dakota, who passed away several years ago at age 15. The beautiful thing about #writing is that I can bring him back.

Sage Byrne@sagebyrne· Jul 4 So begins an evening of terror for Callie. It's hours away from dark and they're already shooting off mortars in the neighborhood. She's wearing her thundershirt and had a tranquilizer, which she promptly threw up. It's going to be a fun night. <sarcasm>

Sage Byrne@sagebyrne· Jun 10 This was the deck at night where I stayed during my trip. It was relaxing to sit outside at night and just listen to the creek rushing by. On the second night, I got to see fireflies.
