I have some news that weighs heavily on my heart. After thoughtful conversations with my family, my team, and trusted supporters, I have made the incredibly difficult decision to end my campaign for the United States Senate. Listen to my full thoughts:
While the President held a rally in Des Moines (just one week ago) spewing more lies and hate and offered no real solutions to lower our costs, I joined hundreds of Iowans who are fed up with the actions of this administration to protest the senseless murders of Renee Good and Alex Pretti by ICE.
Mason City—thank you for the warm welcome and hospitality on Saturday. It always feels good to be back home with my friends and family—you're the reason I'm in this fight.
The murder of two U.S. citizens by ICE is unacceptable. It’s time for federal law enforcement to get the f*ck out of Minneapolis and to withhold DHS and ICE funding until the masks come off and we hold those responsible accountable to the full extent of the law.
Enjoyed getting back out to Waterloo last Thursday to participate in the Black Hawk County Democrats’ Chili-Fest. Perfect timing for some comfort food and a little friendly competition. Tried some really great takes on the classic, but don’t blame me if I still think my wife’s was the best.
I commend Iowa Democrats for this effort. Paid family leave and a $15 minimum wage shouldn't be controversial - these are the bare minimum of what Iowans need to survive and it's about damn time we have a Senator in Washington who is going to fight to guarantee them.
53 years ago, Roe v. Wade became the law of the land and for the first time women had the right to make their own healthcare choices. But now so-called leaders in Iowa like Ashley Hinson celebrate the overturning of Roe, support near total abortion bans without exceptions…
I knew at an early age my family didn’t have much. When I was 5, my dad wrote a bad check so me and my siblings could have new clothes for the first day of school. My dad’s story isn’t unique – this is the reality for too many families like mine.
Today we honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his steadfast fight for the equality, dignity, and opportunity of all people, including the working class.
Nearly 800,000 fewer Americans have signed up for the ACA this year because Ashley Hinson voted NOT to extend the ACA tax credits and premiums are skyrocketing. This isn’t just a failure, it’s a choice by Hinson to price working class people out of lifesaving healthcare.
MercyOne closed their Traer Family Medicine Clinic in December, and is now closing their Family and Internal Medicine Clinic in Ottumwa in February. Why? Because our rural hospitals are being decimated by the unprecedented Medicaid cuts in the “Big Bullshit Bill” Ashley Hinson voted for.
Governor Reynolds might talk a big game about securing federal funding for cancer screening, but under her leadership Iowa has the 2nd highest cancer rate in the country, 41 rural hospitals have closed their maternity wards, and Iowa has become dead last for OB/GYNs.
I had a great time joining the Urbandale Dems. Nothing energizes me more than hearing directly from Iowans about what matters most –rising costs to stagnant wages, affordability will be a defining issue of this election and who better to fight for those issues than someone who lives them every day.
Joni Ernst just endorsed Ashley Hinson – two career politicians. Same failed policies. Same corporate donors. While Iowans struggle, they rip away our healthcare, doing nothing to lower costs. We're running a different campaign, one that doesn’t corporate PAC $ and fights for working class Iowans.
For far too long, billionaires have ruled party bosses and career politicians in Washington – it’s time we put power back in the hands of the working class by banning individuals and corporations from spending millions to buy our elections.
It’s about damn time we have real working class representation in Washington.
"My wife works for McCoy True Value – a former client of mine when I worked in radio and a family owned business that has been serving Indianola for over 140 years. It’s a sad day when a small business like this has to close its doors, not only for its workers but for its community.
What a complete joke – Ashley Hinson just voted NO on extending the ACA tax credits, proving once again she would rather line the pockets of billionaires and corporations than fight for the 117,000 Iowans who are going to see their health insurance premiums skyrocket this year.
ICE shot and killed a US citizen today. A full investigation into the incident should be launched immediately. It's time to take the masks off and hold ICE accountable to the atrocities they're committing on behalf of this administration.
When the average age of the first time homeowner is 39, something is broken. While the President and I rarely agree, we do agree corporations and billionaires buying up our land and single-family homes is destroying the American dream for working class people. I absolutely support this ban!
