Still thinking about anime’s popularity…but even in 2006ish I was getting flack for not drawing seriously because I drew like this:
Bragging everywhere about this but as someone who can no longer eat beans but loves mapodofu, I am ecstatic to say that I was able to make a (mostly) beanless mapodofu by replacing the bean paste with red chili paste and the tofu with ricotta cheese?? I feel like a genius. It tasted good!!
Only have 7 pages drafted so far but it’s happening…hopefully I can finish before my deadline at the end of the month 🥲
When you meet your childhood friend again, but a lot more has changed than you realized (1/6)
Posting the Japanese version of this comic here for now. Will post the English in a few days or so (want to get it done within the month) (1/5)
Me and @mamoan.bsky.social will be at F28a during Comitia tomorrow! I will probably be doing portfolio reviews for the first couple of hours, so if you want to see me for sure I'd suggest dropping by past noon! I somehow finished the comic...only 12 pages, but still!
Rudolph (from the pages I showed there) is ambiguously brown, which would’ve been more of a plot point if the story had lasted longer than it did. Right now I’m working on a short story about a black girl and JP boy who were childhood friends meeting in Japan after he moved there when they were 10.
Don’t have anything to link at the moment but I am a black manga artist based in Japan whose small goal is to put brown people in my published work even if it’s hard when your audience isn’t really expecting them without a “reason” lol
