Willow, but not Vamp Willow

Just a reminder that you do not, in fact, “have to hand it to” Thomas Massie, who is not afraid to remind you that he is a colossal dick.
In addition to my robust clematis, I also have a nice clump of spiderwort that’s thrived over the years, even in years when I’ve neglected the yard. (If I’m not mistaken, this is the Virginia spiderwort, Tradescantia virginiana, which is native in many Eastern and Central states, including KY.)
Both vines are robust. One has 3 blossoms. (They are angled in a way that makes them hard to photograph without lying down in the wet grass. Here’s one of them, awkwardly.)
A second blossom has hit the datura plant. (It’s just beginning to open, will be fully opened up by the time it gets dark.)
Found a picture of some moldy ham loaf, aka “Billy Roll”
I occasionally mention on here that I’m part of a (very tiny Lutheran [ELCA]) congregation. We do “dinner church.” I have to share with you this text exchange I had today with someone who’s dropped in a few times:
Oops, I did it again. (Confit byaldi, aka movie ratatouille.) This time in a 15” paella pan.
I see your Pi Day, and I’ll raise you an Euler’s Identity
I learn 2 things from this tweet: • Susan Collins is still posting official(ish) statements on the CSAM-robot platform • Susan Collins is really not at all concerned about the Venezuela business. It appears she learned no lessons from 2003-2009
Good bye and good riddance, 2025. (Image thanks to @ellenmeister.bsky.social )
While Son was getting landscape picture, I went over to some of the rocks to see what might be growing there. This should serve as Proof of Lichen
We went out to the west desert (of Utah, specifically just west of the Great Salt Lake. We roasted hot dogs at the top of a ridge. This photo *should* serve as Proof of Lake (if you look really close)
Post a perfect album from the 90s that isn't nirvana, soundgarden, pearl jam, or alice in chains.
Nana and (Grand)Son eager to dig into turkey, stuffing, cranberry relish, steamed asparagus, and mashed sweet potato.
† Dogwood Scrubs is a nickname for the family home, alluding to the dogwood tree which is a prominent feature of the front yard, but also making a sly nod to the name of a notorious prison in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham (built 1875–1891, and still in use).
