Discworld is my Happy Place, and I love connecting with fellow residents! See you in Llamedos... "Goodness is about what you do. Not who you pray to." Terry Pratchett I welcome respectful disagreement but block trolls and haters.
Find the woman in this photo who really, really wishes she was at home with a cup of tea and a good book.
It did it again! It's never done that before with any of your posts. So yes...I think BS is full of BS today.
@hcrichardson.bsky.social Re. today's "What the Heck": the ancient Egyptians worshipped Ma'at, the goddess of truth, law and order who keeps the universe in existence. When someone died the gods weighed their heart against Ma'at's Feather of Truth. If it didn't balance, they didn't go to paradise.
People's choices, actions and impact aren't changed by death. It doesn't wipe the slate clean and make you some saint whose evil is excused. Lindsey Graham was one of many people who helped to harm our nation, us, and people worldwide. Wherever he is, he's being held accountable for his deeds.
I've read a lot of brain research on what makes people dysfunctional. It's fear - which is what U.S. culture heavily promotes. Fear keeps people always afraid, which impairs and atrophies the smart brain region. It has made Americans weak, reactive, and downright stupid. And that is NO ACCIDENT.
I'm watching Project Hail Mary. The first half was sheer children's fable: totally unrealistic and 2D. Kids would love it but I was ready to stop watching. So in case you feel that way too: the movie really kicks into gear halfway through. It gets funnier, more suspenseful, and more emotional.
THIS, from Heather Cox Richardson, is exactly right. Housing costs are at an all-time high and Trump is saying to struggling Americans, "You're not getting affordable housing unless you give up your voting rights."
Laughing at tyrants is one of THE best ways to bring them down. This is a meme about Turkey's ruler, Erdogan:
If you've ever wondered why the world is such a mess, here's my answer - which is grounded in brain research, behavioral studies, and personal experience.
Ah, but his first character was, in my opinion, one of his best. I can still hear his voice in my head perfectly delivering this line in "Bosom Buddies": "Well, SHE certainly gives credence to the rumors that Eva Braun made it out."
Volunteer, donate, and vote like your life depends on it. Because it does.
Check out this photo of Trump yesterday. Look at how puffy and swollen his face is - especially his eyes. Look at how little hair he's got left on the top of his head. Time is on our side, brothers and sisters. It's just a matter of time. I'm guessing 6 months to a year max.
That's it! Since the 1970s there's been a strategy to own the courts, destroy the govt, and make fringe ideas mainstream (see book). Then came Fox, which uses fear to change the brain's function so people stop thinking/become a cult and BILLIONS spent by oligarchs to control news & politicians.
I am so ambivalent about this. I love looking at decor ideas on Pinterest. But it's infested with soooo much AI that I'm getting to where I only want to see something REAL. At the very least, this stuff should be labeled AI so we know it doesn't exist in reality. It's not even human art. 😠
For the first time Trump has met a reality he can't brainwash like a cult or bully like he does US businesses, media, and universities. His whole way of life is to hit back harder than he's been hit. Now he's hitting back with our children, tax money, and international respect. Vote accordingly.
IMPORTANT TRUTHS - from Paul Krugman. Trump has damaged our nation's long-term prosperity and safety by giving the rest of the world a million reasons to separate from us and ignore us.
I'm watching Terminator 2 on TubiTV, and I have to say - for anyone who isn't completely convinced - that James Cameron is one helluva storyteller and movie maker.
Great op-ed from The Guardian. Which, by the way, is a nonprofit. That's why they've been able to stay independent - as opposed to news orgs owned by the filthy rich, who so quickly and happily became Trump State Media.
This book is hugely helpful in showing how Trump uses the same tactics a cult leader does - which manipulate the brain's hardwired weaknesses so it defeats itself. It's no accident people change radically around Trump. He knows exactly how to, as Jim Comey put it, "eat your soul in small bites."
