Sidenote, Evangeline Walton's interpretation of the Mabinogion is GORGEOUS and I really encourage anyone with an interest in mythology to try and get ahold of her version of the stories. I have a copy of the UK edition from Gollancz but it's sadly out of print now and hard to find.

I found Japanese translations of the Mabinogion tetralogy by Evangline Walton and immediately I knew I had to own them (despite my Japanese being extremely rusty). I'm obsessed with these covers.

😢 I got to meet Anthony Head at LFCC in 2011 and he was so lovely even when I was a stuttering mess. Buffy and Merlin were such core parts of my teen identity, and still are hugely important to me. He will be so missed 💔

Today I finished reading Local Gods by @melindasalisbury.com (out in August) and it was utterly stunning. An A24 folk horror film in the form of a YA novel, with beautiful, hazy and shimmering prose and a sense of creeping dread. Just amazing!! 🦉 #booksky

Last night I finished Slayers of Old by @jimchines.com and I absolutely loved it! Found family, supernatural hijinks, chocolate chip muffins and a tentacled cat - a real treat for Buffy fans. I can already see this being in my top reads for 2026 and the year has barely started!

I finished How to Become the Dark Lord and Die Trying by @djangowexler.bsky.social last night and absolutely loved it! I had to order the sequel straight away. SO funny and full of heart. I'm going to be recommending it to every fantasy fan I know 🖤
