This was a small business Saturday I made earlier (Friday) as it’s a lovely coffee shop but it’s only open Mon - Fri. Jo’s Coffee Shop & Sandwich Bar in Sundon Park is a hive of activity throughout the week and it does WEDGES of cookie pie!!! If you have a sweet tooth this is an absolute must.

Meet Jackie Neufville - the new Chair of the Marsh Farm Pride in Place Board! Jackie has lived in Marsh Farm for over 35 years, and is now helping set up the board that will decide where to best spend the £20million in government funding that is coming for Marsh Farm.

Following the new Prime Minister’s appointments, I am joining the Northern Ireland Office as a Minister. This means that I will be leaving the position of Chair of the Women and Equalities Select Committee. I have loved every minute of it and am proud of what we have achieved together. 👇

My thoughts go out to the loved ones of Shaun Burton, who tragically lost his life in Friday evening’s crash. I also want to thank our emergency services, including at the L&D. Time must be given for the investigation & support should be available for all those involved in this horrific incident.

People are galvanized by the politics and change that Andy Burnham offers, which is why turnout was so high in Makerfield. That can only be a good thing for politics, for our Party and our country.

Andy Burnham’s striking result in Makerfield shows us that politics can’t carry on as usual. People want a different sort of representation, and they deserve it too. We now need a managed process to change our national leadership. Makerfield is just the start of how we reconnect with Labour values.

This bad take keeps getting worse. Reform have a problem with women. Even Reform women have a problem with women. Domestic abuse is not on the players of the match, it’s on the perpetrator.

Reform talk a big game on protecting women - but the behaviour of their MPs and candidates show the opposite. Voters in Makerfield deserve better. The country deserves better. We deserve hope, not fear. #PMQs

Bereaved families like Amani’s are desperately trying to raise funds for brain cancer research so that more people don’t have to go through what they have. A brain tumour diagnosis should not be a life sentence. We have £40m of funding committed to brain cancer treatment - we must use it. 💜

A break from my usual Small Business Saturday Shout Out this weekend. I’m in Makerfield today, knocking on doors along with hundreds of volunteers - all fighting for hope offered by Andy and what proper Labour values can deliver.

Yesterday's session exposed the weaknesses of the EHRC's Code of Practice. Rather than bring "clarity", it will lead to more confusion for businesses, staff and customers, as this example highlighted. This is one of the many reasons, I have signed the fatal motion.

For the people questioning why I haven’t said something about govt use of X. A quick google would show I have done what is in my actual powers to do. And will continue to do.

Today, @commonswec.parliament.uk will be questioning the EHRC on the new code of practice. It's important we remind ourselves that trans people across the country are simply trying to exist freely. I am very grateful to those in Luton North who have been kind enough to share their stories with me.

Lovely Stopsley Community Garden. They’ve opened up the centre due to the weather but the mood is sunny inside and out! There are plenty of activities for big and small children. The knit and natter group are raising funds for Keech Hospice. Thanks to all the fab volunteers who put today on. 🌻

From the Lionesses to the Red Roses, women's sport shows that we can build inclusive spaces for LGBT+ sportspeople. But unlike straight athletes, they risk abuse just for loving their partner. There are still no out PL footballers. We should celebrate progress made - but there is lots still to do.

This year, Pride is more protest than party. Today I again raised my concerns - if these questions and others are not answered adequately by the chair of the EHRC when she comes before @commonswec.parliament.uk next week, I will be signing the fatal motion on the code of practice.

My thoughts are with Henry Nowak’s family and loved ones. It is their words we need to take notice of, not those wishing to exploit the horrific murder of a young man. Every effort must be made to learn from any failings and work together to stop more young lives being taken by knives and violence.
