Books, cats & a dog, choirs, foodie (one time food scientist), swimming, politics, history and Cork. Order depends on the day. Secularist.
Flew back via Heathrow on Sunday after a few days in the New Forest - we just missed a fire that destroyed one of the main roads by a couple of hours. Flying in, Cork looked positively lush compared to the South of England. I have never seen it this brown. Donegal must be glorious!
Envying anyone going to Forest Fest later. Saw James in Killarney last night. Just superb. Even got to dance with Tim Booth for 5 seconds on his ramble through the crowd. #spéirgorm
I sat outside on my break and then had to put my phone in the fridge for 20 mins. Thats me done
Went from plugging in a heater on Thursday to this 🥶 —> 🫠. Exam weather had arrived
He wasn’t the one dressing the kids for Halloween in his house obviously. Always a few cats in the mix when mine were small.
The Charlatans, Cork, Oct 2023. First time I went to anything during the Jazz festival in over two decades.
Same - coming to the stark realisation that those ads are aimed at me 😳. My gym had a programme last year aimed at getting over 60s to workout- much better
Not missing out on our share of the Northern lights spectacular show in East Cork
I sent my sister in the UK a photo of that recently 😅 It was great fun to play on as kids but if you fell off any part you knew all about it as my Mum would say
Its not even original - looks like they cogged someone’s homework from 80s - at this this fits well with the Boole beyond it.
I grew up in the city and herons robbing goldfish from garden ponds was all I saw of bigger birds. Way out in the sticks now and I will never get over the joy of seeing buzzards hovering and swooping. Also the privilege of meeting these guys on occasion
Jim Gavin isn’t actually a member of Fianna Fáil. But yes we’d love Michael D (and Misneach) for a 3rd term
What I think is a newtlet in my dog’s outside bowl this morning. First time Ive spotted one - hopefully safe in the long wet grass now, well away from my curious pup #irishnature #spéirghorm
Ah yes the notorious anti-cleric seen here kissing McQuaids ring on bended knee
I still have this one from over 40 years ago. I was 11/12 so in my dramatic/romantic phase and reveled at being heartbroken about those stories. I haven’t opened it in years - v disappointing to see in another post that there’s anti semitic references.
I don’t have any photos of the parts of Cork city that were inundated during the locals last year but this is from Limerick another time - 4 of the same in a row - who does that serve??
Belvelly castle wearing the green for the weekend that’s in it ☘️ #EastCork #spéirghorm #LáFhéilePádraig
Picked a good day to get back in the water after bad weather/bad cold kept me away for a few weeks #sweatysanctuary #EastCork #spéirghorm
Calm and chilly after a wet and windy morning- Claycastle beach, Youghal
Boston spent millions on the Big Dig and it took from 1982 to 2007 to put the elevated (& very ugly) Central Artery built in the 50s underground. Dublin was lucky it missed out
