"Yay" for a surprise $500 bill that I didn't know was going to have to be a thing today. Sigh. If anyone wanted to drop me some coins to my venmo that'd be HUGE right now. #mutualaid #surprisebill #lesigh
It’s probably just a coincidence that I’m watching this now. Right ;)
Oh but also: yesterday I went hiking with my buddy. It was melting hot outside but my buddy & I went in the morning. It wasn’t hot yoga (also cooler than that) & we were out for only a bit longer than my usual hot yoga sessions but it felt good to get out & do the ish. Need to do it more.
Then we played a quick game of Flip 7 with a Vengeance. It was a good game to exit on.
Next was the inaugural play of my newest game acquisition: Realm of Reckoning. This was a little wonky setting up & ended up being a stellar full vibrant game… which I should have won but then didn’t. In the last twist when I fucked up & missed 16 points.
A return to Saturday #boardgames where only 3 games were played. First up was Epos which is an updated game of Gentes. I hadn’t played Gentes yet but was surprised about how much I liked it even though I played very badly. I came in last out of the 4 of us. Has anyone played this?
Wow uh this happened this morning while I was burning sage & Christ. It’s going to be one of those days today isn’t it?
Delayed post of newest newest #boardgame acquisition. Already played it a few weeks ago with someone else’s copy. Grabbed mine as soon as I could. Someone should pay me to review this & other stuff again. Ahem.
It’s 5 am & my body misses my hot yoga rotation already. I’ll have to settle for my goth cuppa & other work for now I guess…
Currently playing Scholars of the South Tigris (with expansion). I haven’t played this one in the series yet at alone let alone with the expansion. #boardgames
#boardGame ended a bit ago but: - I did great in early & mid game! - Did badly at end game. Lost by 20+ points. Think I’d like to try Lisboa de Mercado to see if I fare better. Mixed feels on this one currently. Didn’t hate it but didn’t sing to me like Speakeasy or Gallerist. Will play again!
The next day, at the vintage fair two different sellers there both had my sisters name. It’s not an uncommon one so not a super big deal I guess. The one place I got the best best deal of the day was one of them. Because of course it was. Ok, you’re here again. What’s up Jess? I brewed some more.
She showed up as a card in Viticulture. This was the second time it happened now. She showed up last game I played with that group too. Me: I got the dead sister mama card friends! Them: Again? No way! Do you want a different one? Me: Naw, it’s ok. I laughed about it & brewed on it internally.
I’m in transit with this big boy & just got a text that we aren’t playing it tonight so not to worry about schlepping it cross town. 🤣🤣 Brilliant.
Whelp it’s back to no car things again & tonight is game night where a certain dear friend in this stack (not all shown) may be on the menu so I’m going to have to get it & transport it cross town on multiple trains because dedicated #boardgame things or something…
I’m just a lady decompressing from a full couple of weeks with barb (gin), barb (pop), & barb (pastry) sweet treats. My damn I love rhubarb so much.
Yesterday I got complimented on my fit several times, was recognized by my voice, saw someone I knew from my very very early days in social, &… got asked if I was [redacted] years old when people realized I was older than they thought. It was a whole mix of things yesterday. Heh.
Before I go to bed: I got a few more #boardgames today too. Went to Barnes & Noble because I kept seeing stuff about deals & came home with these three: A fish game, a Knizia game I didn’t have before, & gothy pervy maids. Haven’t played any of them yet. Well besides the base for Tanto Cuore.
Why hello absolutely divine lamp I found at a thrift today for cheap that yes yes she absolutely *did* come home with me as you can see & will have things tidied a bit around her later but omg isn’t she a stunner?!
Our final total for the #boardgames played tonight was 10 games. We did this over the course of about 12 hours. I’m trying to find the Coyote game on BGG stats & spaced on who won but me & my 2nd player buddy are currently tied with game wins minus that last game I’m trying to figure out who won.
The last game we played was just a teaser as we had a hard limit for when we needed to leave for the evening. We played a week of Molly House. It went badly even though there were two fabulous parties. Both of the friends caught possible indictments. One survived that but the other was indicted.
We were onto our scheduled appointment: Isle of Cats! I ended up having to run the teach & such as the original host hadn’t played in a bit. (Red plays this in tournaments so she knows this one alright. 😉) However I came in second because one lesson card was barely missed! Ah well. #boardgames
À friend of ours had a Japanese quick silly game called Coyote that we played next as we were short on time between things. This was a silly party game that went fast. Would play it again. Had anyone played this one before? #boardgames
After hanging out with the dragons, we ended up playing a Knizia game I hadn’t played just yet: Through the Desert. I miscalculated something & it cost me the table win but still fun & met a new fellow Knizia enjoyer! #boardgames
So after failing to win against the fash, we played a very lovely Deluxe version by of Flamecraft Duel. I hadn’t played Flamecraft before (I know, I know I should) but it was enjoyable even though I didn’t win this one either… but yay new #boardgames with friends!
Fighting fash isn’t easy! We regrettably lost to them ultimately but it was curious to check this out & be reminded about how much work collective action really is…it’s a whole thing & even when we try we can’t always win but gotta try anyways.
And then we went for the fascists & played Anti- fascist Toothfairy because we play somewhere that has a promo copy!
After that we played Hero Realms. We had played the squidy version previously. Was fun. Very close game that I barely won.
We briefly played Tiny Epic Kingdoms but ended up abandoning it. Here are a couple of shots of me in my pineapple fit for the day instead. (And yes I’m leaning into this Hunter S Thompson look thing a lot lately.)
