Annoying bird thing of the day... An article in my news feed about a Michigan bird sanctuary, showing stock art with a European Robin. (This is just as bad as the ubiquitous movie red tail hawk screech while an eagle appears on the screen.) #birds

These guys were hustling to get somewhere! #birds There were quite a few newly fledged birds at this site, Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge in Seneca County, New York. Highlights included a nice driving trail through the wetlands and plenty of marsh wrens, black terns, and great blue herons.

Look at this beauty from northern Michigan last week.

My first encounter with these was in Florida. I was walking along a boardwalk, and looked down into the reeds just below my shoulder, and there he was looking up at me! A thousand other times, I might have walked right past it.

Tonight's event is in Montecristo's Cigar Bar in Manhattan's Midtown. Cigar haze fills the room. Smoke encircles each patron like a halo. Ironically, "Just Breathe" plays on the audio. Tonight, I will be smoke-cured like a pepperoni.

The native Linden trees (Tilia americana) in my neighborhood are in bloom and absolutely chock-full of western honey bees (Apis mellifera). When you walk under the trees, there is a loud humming drone from tens of thousands of bees! #nativePlants

Proud parent moment: My FA son saved a life yesterday. Medical emergency on board, passenger having a heart attack. My son was purser, had to get the AED on the guy, and then told the captain, "He's not going to make it to Denver, he'll make it to Omaha." 30kft corkscrew descent. The guy survived.
