Mid 70s. Gardening, reading, bibliophile, preserving, cooking, politicaly left. Left UK to escape Brexit. Pro Palestine, anti fascism. Pro humanity & all creatures that live on this planet. Not very optimistic for the future of the world 🏳️🌈🌱🍴🌻🇵🇸 🇪🇺 🇮🇪☘️
Today I have made five dishes of #aubergines, onions, garlic, celery and tomatoes, all bar the onions from our #garden, also some spice and herbs. 2 kg of aubergines and tomatoes each. 5 heads & 5 sticks of celery. This is before they went in the oven. They will be cooked 2hours & then frozen. 🌱🧑🍳🍴
Happy birthday Danni. We remember you. Your amazing resilient spirit. Your infectious laughter. Your care for how others were feeling. You always went into dialysis with a bottle of bubbly and lots of strawberries to share with everyone there.🎂🍓🍾
Just finished reading this. Agree with her postscript. One must keep educating oneself, learning. How else do you grow? how else do you survive? UBI is self-evident. Participatory democracy is the bit from a personal perspective as a loner I find difficult, the concept not so. More books to read.
One of three #books I thought were arriving today has. Presumably the other two will arrive at some point.
2 more jars of fermented dill pickles started. Apart from dill I also put in garlic. 3 days at room temperature and then into my cellar fridge. They will be at their best in about four to six months. We are still eating some that I started in August last year - still delicious. 🥒🍴👩🍳 #ferments
These two photos were taken from the same spot. To the left is the walled secret garden with pond, straight in front is the pergola with the glade to the right. I am very pleased with how this all developing as seven years ago it was sterile with no plants or wildlife.🌱🏡
It looks as if we will be getting a really good harvest of tomatoes this year, provided they ripen. So lots will be canned, turned into passata, into ketchup, and some will be dried, as well as eaten fresh.🌱🍅
Harvested the first yellow rattle seed to sow elsewhere. Took a few photos in the wild bit of the garden. #garden #wildflower 🌱🏡
Before and after. The first is how it was when we arrived, the second now. 🌱 Will do some more before and after photos. It really does look very different now.
My witchy brew, second panful of syrup made from the last of the 2025 Cornish Aromatic apples, with some of this year's rhubarb and a handful of berries from the freezer, and a load of fresh ginger. Bottling and pasteurising for later use. About 9 litres in all. 🌱🍹🍸🍷
This morning, beautiful cherry blossom on three year old tree. The first apple blossom open.
An orange tip butterfly on the rosemary. Taken an hour ago. #garden #butterfly
#Bread making finished. 3 #loaves & some rolls. Thumb &wrist wrap back on. Bread making hard on #arthritic hands. Have to get the doc to write me a script for some painkillers. Life would apparently be easier if I could take NSAIDS, but I can't. Fish, beans & new bread for dinner, with🍷🍷 🍷
