Die Würde des Menschen ist unantastbar. Born in California, now in Germany near Hamburg.
Our son came home from the German Gliding Championships (12 day competition at Burg Feuerstein, near Bamburg) with a trophy, an invitation to the national team, and an invitation to the Euros in Slovenia in 2028. #VizeMeister
This sun umbrella was my wife’s best purchase this year. Our patio catches evening sun from the south, and the umbrella creates a patch of shade perfectly sized for two.
You'd then hate this statue in Blue Earth, Minnesota en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_G...
Only when he's flying do we know exactly where to find our son. This week he's doing laps over Poland.
So I’m using ChatGPT for really useful stuff like the chances HSV stays in the Bundesliga 😛
Today I pulled hard disks out of ancient computers so the computers can be recycled. Most went without a struggle, but that Dell Studio Hybrid gave me a nasty cut on my finger before surrendering.
We went on a walk through the Heide yesterday and THE HEIDSCHNUCKEN BABIES WERE OUTSIDE!
Happy New Year from Frauke and me! May 2026 bring you a lot of “Schwein”, the German symbol of good luck. That pig is very special to us ever since Frauke’s heart valve replacement last year (from a pig, of course). 🐷🍀
On our trip to the US we were able to obtain these historic artifacts: Hardee’s “Rise and Shine” mugs from 1986.
Storm is now here. We got the flight changed to tomorrow, although it took more time and money than we thought. Temp will sink from 10°C to -15°C tonight.
Fifth Christmas dinner: Goose with dumplings and red cabbage at 6 pm on the 26th. My wife brought our traditional German 2nd Christmas Day dinner to Minnesota. Goose from South Dakota.
Fourth Christmas dinner: Ham and meatballs at my cousin’s at 6 pm on the 25th. Half the guests cancelled so it was just the three of us. There will be leftovers.
Third Christmas dinner: Turkey and meatballs at the VFW at noon on the 25th. It’s the quieter of the Christmas days, and we went out. Free-will donation.
Second Christmas dinner: German Raclette American style at 8 pm on the 24th. We found a grill on Amazon, Raclette cheese at Lunds & Byerlys deli in the Twin Cities, and all other ingredients improvised locally.
