Oh my god are we going to have an actual Americathon for the 250th? Poor John Ritter never got to see it tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwik...
Another studio day, after picking up the aforementioned paper and supplies. Turned a pack of cardstock into a few decks of what I call the “Tarot Generot”, a very basic tarot deck design-inspired by the generic products from Repo Man. Available soon as a free download or buy a copy in person/online.
I dare you @jamesgunn.bsky.social and @kevinfeige.bsky.social
Back in the studio for an evening of comics making but first I’m binding up some blank comics. There will be some available for free here at The Yellow Door and I will see if some other local spots would also like them. Plus you’ll be able to download and print them yourself if you like.
Heading home from a nice late afternoon to early evening in the studio, trying to make it a habit to work on my own comics here every Sunday night. And more ideally but this is for drawing with the analog tools, I can do digital anywhere.
Eternally hilarious to me that one of the embedded advertisements on Gilmore Girls was for this album, and they play the opening bars of this song before returning to Louise Goffin/Carole King strum strum la la music
When people ask me “what’s the greatest comic ever made?” this is probably my most frequent answer. Been trading in a lot of good old stuff to help lubricate my poverty and move to NB, & used some of my credit for this first beautiful volume. So much better than the illegible tiny trade paperbacks
Whew! All done scanning the weird old ads out of the pile of comics I’ve had in the studio for months. The comics themselves will be recycled into bundles for fundraising and in the worst cases of damage, scraps for collage and button pressing.
Having another day of scanning old comics in the studio. Some classics like Kirby’s 2001 treasury, some random old stuff with hostess cop cake ads.
If you’re looking for an excellent movie that happens to have a Xmas component and also speaks well to our times, do check out Stalag 17 by the great Billy Wilder starring the great William Holden.
Before Peacemaker’s choreographed opening titles, there were the animated titles of Super.
Decent cheap book haul for nerds of a certain age at value villaj today
I swear to god this was not cheating, I got groceries at e-joy food mart last night and took a picture of this because I’m a child
Putting yesterday’s mega bloks haul to good use, building a Mother Box housing
This is a bit of a medium experiment for me but I like it so far. B&W photo I took in Digby nearly 40 years ago > photocopied and enlarged on inkjet printer > mounted on primed Michaels canvas and pulled, leaving some paper residue > finished with brush and acrylic paint 🎨
Don’t feel like sleeping yet so hanging out with Bob and the lads
Here’s my most recent stuff that I’m trying to finish up or have recently finished.
About a decade ago I did a few years of nanowrimo, and one of my favourite completed novels was about a female Jack Reacher style character who returns to her hometown and starts kicking in the teeth of local criminals. This is the root of a new comic idea I had called Icebreaker, set in America.
Peanut Butter, beloved cat of our hearts, declined quickly this week from kidney issues and was released from her pain this morning. We loved you so much, baby. I’m glad you can be with your sister again, enjoying the sun.
Might make a little print of this for this years studio holiday card, we’ll see
Update, Tintin rocket with fresh paint next to my souvenir @atomium.bsky.social God I miss Brussels 😭
