I passed SB 79 last year — a new law authorizing more housing density near high quality public transit — and it went into effect last week. It’s fantastic to see the first applications moving forward.

The Fillmore Jazz Fest is always a blast, and this year it was even better thanks to the new Entertainment Zone. Entertainment Zones are succeeding beyond my wildest hopes when I authored the law that created them, enhancing our amazing legacy events and sparking new ones across the city. Enjoy!

I passed California’s law authorizing “entertainment zones” — locally designated zones where bars & restaurants can sell alcohol onto the street. That was previously illegal under state law. San Francisco has established more than 30 entertainment zones under that law. They’re a huge success.
