NYT defending a story sourced from the Trump & Israeli admins days before an important vote on Iran. Misunderstanding Amanpour, they tell her to trust their pulitzers. Same push back from NYT publishing the same style bs stories fed to them by the Bush admin desperate to get support during Iraq.
Fair. A more moderate view: There’s issues with how Whitehouse journalism is being carried out and when the dust settles I can’t see the nyt not being in the same boat as washpo, cnn, etc.
The Trump bump. Journalists in the US have incentives to only tepidly challenge trump, publish regular administration fluff pieces, ensuring they still have access for stories, with both sides type comparisons, legitimizing bat shit things, because he’s great for business.
Just shipped PanicLock with a new feature called Lock on Close. Perfect for Journalists, etc. Close your MacBook lid and Touch ID is disabled automatically. When you open it again, you’ll need your password. No fingerprint unlock.
Could this be the famous German foresight that predicted the last two world wars?
Headlines like this need to followed by headlines “X library ported to Rust/Go using Claude Code”. Otherwise we’re gonna have a bad time. There are so many undiscovered security vulnerabilities out there, but no class of vuln beats C & C++ Memory Safety vulnerabilities which we know how to solve.
Not getting phone calls or imessage/sms haptics when using iPhone lockdown mode pretty much makes my watch useless. It also makes the action buttons on contacts greyed out and useless. Why either of these things are disable needed for security is confusing, feel like it's half baked tbh.
Apple is really trying to shove MacOS 26 Tahoe down our throats. They're hiding it as a default under updates, and also having it under Upgrade. I'm going to hold out as long as I keep getting security updates or they fix the awful Liquid Glass performance in Tahoe.
On January 14th, the FBI raided a Washington Post reporter's home. They seized her phone, laptops, and watch. The warrant included a section titled "Biometric Unlock", authorizing agents to use her face and fingers to access her devices. They found she had 1,100+ sources on Signal.
Built a free opensource macOS app this week. It's called PanicLock. One click (or keyboard shortcut) instantly disables Touch ID and locks your Mac. Password required to get back in. Why? Because of what happened to Hannah Natanson. paniclock.github.io
A budget and election won't fix this. Due to a frozen in time constitution US democracy relies on “norms” and patriotic myth instead of hard law. It only took one politician to trample those norms without consequence and all the guardrails made of norms vanished. Leaving the country vulnerable.
Microsoft Office 365 Copilot, or whatever they call it, has an insane amount of outages. And that's only the ones they declare, we had plenty of painful MS Entra & Intune bugs and outages that they failed to acknowledge and then silently fixed. With poor support. I'm in the move off MS camp.
God it's unreal how few official weather stations measure rainfall. Especially in the southwest. WOW indeed!
Fed Chair Jerome Powell understands this. He states truth, outlining, but not engaging with the pre-texts. www.youtube.com/watch?v=KckG...
@giancarlofiorella.bsky.social @eliothiggins.bsky.social Have you seen this before? Tiktok adding background noise to videos that contain political speech?
The most revealing answer of the entire Trump Venezuela press conference. Trump isn't leaving any time soon, elections or not, he's going to stay for oil.
Not sure if this helps your analysis or not. Data from our station during the same timeframe in Tipperary. Peaked at 60km. It had intense rainfall and wind for a few minutes.
While this usb attack isn’t something most people should worry about, calling it outdated rather than too early might be a mistake. Malicious cables like the O.MG cable are getting better, cheaper and more accessible. This messaging could be detrimental to needed future messaging.
Interesting that this was introduced in the US before it was introduced in Europe.
