Feeling luckissimo today having gotten this doodle from @martinyellow.bsky.social on their stream last night~! Take a look at those PAWS!! (Or those TALONS... Or both... I am not picky~)
I have been really lucky to be able to abuse my height to simplify a lot of hard boulders recently - I had particular fun with this one because I could only get it on my tippiest tippy toes! (And it was still really hard for me lol) #bouldering #climbing
I hear climbers mysteriously talking about "just trying hard" to do a move a lot, but I think I am hitting the point in my climbing where I kinda get it! I wish I hadn't needed to try literally twice as hard on this hand flip because I missed the foot, but lesson still learned LOL
Today's climbing clip ought to have an audio track of my thoughts going "OH GOD I AM FUCKEDDDD" when my foot exploded off reaching for the top of the wall... Thankfully you can't hear that so I can just go ooooh look I flashed :>
Rarely do I send something with so little energy that I swing off the down climb - this was limit!! Loved doing a big fun thigh squeeze though :)
An obituary for my crocs: Thank you for being the first pair of shoes I wore down to literally nothing - you guys rock and I forgive you for letting rain and snow soak my socks occasionally because that was at least part my bad
Really excited to share this power boulder I managed - a year ago I never thought I would be able to do this sort of style! For my non-climber friends I would define this style as any climb where I slap a hold and make a loud noise LOL
Oh no! My beloved family installed That Pile Of Waist High Rubble That Means You Can't Go There from DarkSouls (tm) in our basement :(
I recently learned I could take way better climbing videos just by using a different setting and have been looking for a good climb to show it off on... Unfortunately I haven't done anything graceful since then so have this LOL
And just to reinforce that I don't post about anything else, another overdue #climbing clip! This time I'm showing off working on more upper-body/campus style boulders and moves! The fall shows that I'm obviously still not great at them, but the flowey feeling of working them has been a blast!
NEW ADORABLE PROFILE PIC JUST DROPPED!!!! And with it my eternal debt to my love @kriscritter.bsky.social deepens :) To make it make sense that my sona loves to climb even as a bird his lore is that his wings are too small to fly with but he still wishes to go skyward~
Did I probably subvert the crux by being tall? Yes. Is it a little soft as a one move wonder? Yes. Did I have to crimp the edge of a sloper to make it through? Yes. Was it still my first white tag (the hardest at my gym)? Yes!
I haven't posted in a hot second but we are still at that climbing grind!! Illness and other hobbies syndrome took brief hold of me, but I've got a few new climbing projects on my radar! In the meantime I wanted to share a super fun bouncy black climb I worked last night!
The bouldering comp results are out! Because I don't wanna make it trivial to find me, I won't say my exact place - but I was just outside the top 10 of 76! I didn't manage 3 boulders, but I flashed 17 of the 21 that I did! Shoutouts to @kriscritter.bsky.social for their huge support too!!
Working on my flashes to save skin and got a ~v5! I'm happy with the solution I had for the crux here - using my span to make a hard cross over move into a less hard cut loose! Had I paid attention to the volume I could have used as a foot it would have been even easier, but a flash is a flash lol
I've got a climbing competition coming up at the end of the month, and I've got a real tendency to always move dynamically to far away holds even from difficult positions to generate momentum in. This final hold taking me ~15 attempts to secure was a good teacher in this lesson LOL #climbing
I thought I'd start with this little project that wasn't too bad except for the final match - I've been working on trying betas that take advantage of my longness, hence the toehook splits here instead of a big flag to handle the swing from matching! (I could barely hold it though lmao) #climbing
Did my first outdoor climbing in a full year yesterday! Where last time around I couldn't really even start a V2 (pictured!), this time around I was able to get a V3 and a V4 (not pictured!)!!! It was hugely motivating after a period of less regular climbing for me and just,,, I LOVE CLIMBING!!
LOOK IT'S ME LOOK HIM LOOK HE'S HERE NOW AND WILL BE PINNED SO YOU CAN KEEP LOOKING AT HIM!!!
