I don't know if I followed that suggestions well at all, but I did finally get a copy of Fiasco. Less than 72 hours between order and delivery from @tabletopbookshelf.com, granting that they are a state line hop over from me.
It's @onepagerpgjam.bsky.social month, and that means I need to finish this thing.
I'm working on a system-agnostic #onepagedungeon. Loot an eccentric's manor for hidden treasure before the whole thing is auctioned off by his wastrel nephew. PDF in progress here: drive.google.com/file/d/1YrGu... #ttrpg
I could come up with a theory for the Trump math but it's not going to be consistent. Sometimes I can see what the numbers are doing even as the process is made up, but "600%" or "times 6" has no relation to the difference between $600 and $10. It's just this xkcd joke.
Yeah, maybe a quarter of the headlines on the page are flavors of "Ukraine impeachment illegitimate". But I have alternative theories.
Free hand, or random note files on my phone at most. Rarely does anything good happen once I'm in a word processor, though sometimes the muse returns during layout.
Jam idea: Take a real headline from the past month. Make a 1 page RPG with it.
seeker8998.itch.io/a-bigger-tent I had a similar idea, but focused on, eh, political strategists.
Took over 20 years but it competes with this unfortunate advertising timing. If the US follows through on the current stream of threats, it will easily be worse
Full game: You crashed in the forest with an alien. Make 4 expressions and secretly assign each to: Happy, Confused, Sad, Angry Randomly pick 2 needs with d6: Shelter, Sustenance, Sky Signal, Spear, Shoes, Squirrel With expressions and action descriptions, get what you need. No in-character speech.
I was suspicious of @exeunt.press's Adventure!'s call to include Rumors, but I'm happy with my tech for @directsun.bsky.social's #PuzzleDungeonJam. Two versions of each rumor, even/odd to set the truth. Then roll until players have 3 known rumors. Roll a # twice, they know the false rumor instead.
Every combat round, each player picks a Reaction that they will take to any attack toward them for the next round. Defend to use armor to mitigate, Dodge to straight avoid harm, Deflect to counter damage. Moving gives a bonus to Dodge; Observing gives a bonus for Defend.
Hat Guy 2: China was going to hit us with rare earth. Woman in Red: What does that mean? HG2: Magnets.
Breaking kayfabe: this is my favorite alt explanation for the elected queen since the idea that it's an allowance for a kid brought into an ongoing RPG who wanted to contribute but didn't grasp the intended flavor. www.darthsanddroids.net/episodes/002...
And even in that schema, it can't do it right! When given three options (the left option for the middle route, the middle option for the right route, and the right option for the left route), the user selects the Right option and then the character goes up the middle! Chooces matter.
I'll need some of these folks to distribute my Into the Odd hack cassette case game coming out early next year. Randomized dungeon creation and flexible spell system in the most satisfying media packaging humanity has yet created. And if it sells, it will be through these kind of dedicated stores.
