The software received upgrades as well, most notably the addition of the course selection screen where the player had to choose from four race tracks. Another highlight was the inclusion of the dynamic element like hills and valleys in the form of dips that added variety to the contest.
Also, the prototype sported a fundamentally different control mechanism. The new game’s analog and light racing hardware used a modified and improved tilt mechanism putting less strain on your back to lean left or right. It also allowed for more effortless maintenance of the critical pivot.
Sega showed the prototype of Super Hang‑On at the 1987 AOU Show. Not just a mere software update, it sported new hardware and replaced the previous oversized deluxe model with a more manageable Enduro Racer-inspired cabinet. Images: Gamest.
Woody Pop came bundled with Sega’s paddle controller, but it’s not necessarily the best game to use with it. Poor presentation and problematic gameplay keep it from reaching the heights of other classic paddle games like Arkanoid or Kaboom!. www.sega-16.com/2026/07/wood...
I got a matching controller for my SuperStation One! I already had one in grey, but I just had to get a blue one.
Argonaut Software's attempt at a 3D platformer on the Saturn is original enough to remain fun, despite suffering from a finicky camera and tank controls. There's still enough quality here to occupy an afternoon for those willing to make the adjustment. www.sega-16.com/2026/07/croc...
Growing up in PR, this game always caused a laugh because of the title. "Kage" written in Spanish as "cagué," literally means "I took a shit." My friends and I called really urgent trips to the restroom "Legends of Kage."
I had never really played the original NES turtles game, and OMG GOD. FUCK THAT UNDERWATER STAGE. I was on my last turtle with only 2 bombs left to get, and the freakin' grass killed me. I had to do that stage 4 times before finally passing it, WITH save states!
We're practically living through the prologue already, but since this is the dumbest timeline, we don't have the fusion-powered cars or robot servants.
Chords is an upcoming graphic adventure for Genesis that looks to rival Kojima's masterpiece Snatcher by carving out a space of its own with amazing presentation, excellent dialogue, intriguing characters, and a great story. www.sega-16.com/2026/06/prev...
Sega-16 has joined @warppoint.games! It's a great way to find retro sites without having to rely on Google's decaying search engine. Lots of other good sites there already!
I managed to transfer my Zelda 2 save from my Analogue Pocket, but it's been over a year since I've played. I was pretty far in! Time to finish it!
Of course I'll keep silent! We wouldn't want them to write a song about it, now would we?
I just got this baby back, and she is looking mighty fine! Recapped and screen modded! Thanks to @nathaniellockhart.bsky.social for the awesome mod job!
Thats what happened. Thankfully, the fix was easy. It was finding the info that made it tough. Also, the DVD remote has no guide, so I had to buy a wireless keyboard. I did manage to get the Saturn core working!
M2 further refined its release of Darius for a full-blown cartridge release called Darius Extra Version. The game improves several areas significantly, making it more robust than arcade original and offering Genesis owners perhaps the seminal version of Darius. www.sega-16.com/2026/06/dari...
OMG OMG OMG. This is the farthest I've ever gotten. I have no idea what to do, lol.
Pictures of the upcoming Mighty Cuphead Adventure for Master System shared by PC Gamer. If they're not mockups, they look pretty darn good so far.
I'm almost done with this game, and although fun, there are some SERIOUS design flaws. First, the nav finder is non-existent. The map is multi-leveled, in 3D, and often hard to figure out. There are no waypoints, and you need to find chests and upgrades that aren't identified in any way.
His ship appears in the SE version of New Hope, but I wish they would have shown him. Maybe the Shadows of the Empire remake will be his time to shine.
I just finished Star Wars: Outlaws, and while it has some issues, the story and characters were great. It nailed the look and vibe of SW. They did miss an opportunity to use the Black Sun though, since the game takes place between ESB and ROTJ. Prince Xizor and Dash Rendar could have become canon.
