Following @fda.gov modified risk marketing approval, Zyn just introduced new flavors, Peach, Black Cherry and Dragonberry, definitely not targeted to kids.
In California and Massachusetts, both with tobacco product flavor bans, Zyn markets two products, Zyn "Original" and "Classic" that aren't available anywhere else. In our new study we show that these are re-badged Zyn "Smooth" and "Chill" varieties marketed in all other states.
In response, California lawmakers amended legislation, resulting in a ban of cooling additives. However, "non-menthol" cigarettes did not disappear from the market. Box design from 2023 and 2025 are identical, besides of the cellophane wrappers with text on gold or black/gold backgrounds.
