Senator Maria Collett
@senatorcollett
Nurse-legislator representing Pennsylvania's 12th Senate District in Montgomery County. Democratic Caucus Chair.
This week, I congratulated my constituent, Ben Hartranft on his appointment to the Governor's Advisory Commission on People with Disabilities! Ben's a champion for autism awareness & the power of kindness, positivity + inclusion. We're lucky to have him advocating for Montco's disability community!
This budget gets us closer to a PA where every child has equal access to a quality education. Schools serving the 12th Senate District will see $1.7M more in funding. These are key investments in special education, career education, mental health, facility improvements + more.
I was proud to support a long overdue cost-of-living adjustment for 80,000 teachers, police officers and firefighters who retired before July 2, 2001. This increase will help our hometown heroes live and age with the dignity they so deserve.
In 2024, I joined advocates for disabled Pennsylvanians on the state Capitol steps for a demonstration inspired by the 1990 Capitol Crawl, a protest that urged Congress to pass the ADA.
July is Disability Pride Month, honoring the disability community, marking the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and pushing for full inclusion in everyday life. The 2026 theme is "The World Works Better With Us."
Our anti-human trafficking bill is headed to the Governor's desk! SB 45 will enable law enforcement to better target + prosecute prostitution related trafficking crimes. As co-Chair of the PA Anti-Human Trafficking Caucus, I'm proud of our efforts to end trafficking + help survivors seek justice.
Don't forget! Free summer meals are available for kids in our community. To find a pick up location near you: 📲 Text "Summer" or "VERANO" to 914-342-7744 🧑💻 Visit www.fns.usda.gov/meals4kids 🚌 Check your school district website
Our bill will ensure parents and caregivers get hundreds of dollars more in tax credits each year by aligning our state Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit with the enhanced federal credit. Let's get it done. 🔗 www.tristatealert.com/pa-dems-look...
The annual Bucks-Mont Pride Festival is a celebration of community, diversity and joy. 🌈 My team and I had a wonderful time visiting vendors, talking with constituents and enjoying the festivities!
Medication co-pay coupons are a lifeline for so many, making prescribed treatments more affordable. SB 268 would end the discriminatory practice of co-pay accumulator programs, which prevent drug manufacturers' payments from counting toward an enrollee’s deductible & increase out-of-pocket costs.
A healthy PA starts with a healthy home. But for far too many families, affordable housing is out of reach. My legislation would: 🏠 Prevent corporate investors from jacking up prices 🏠 Address homelessness and housing instability 🏠 Increase housing availability by streamlining the ADU process
OFFICE HOURS UPDATE! 🛎️ Starting 7/3 my office will operate on a modified schedule with extended weekday hours (8:30AM-5PM, M-Th). We will be closed on Fridays. Our typical office hours will resume on 8/31 (9AM-4:30PM, M-F). For help, please call 215-368-1429 or visit senatorcollett.com.
Despite ongoing attacks on our freedom to make our own healthcare choices, abortion is still safe and legal in Pennsylvania. I’ll never stop fighting to keep it that way.
We're fighting for legislation that will: ✅️ Raise the minimum wage ✅️ Increase affordable housing access ✅️ Reduce healthcare costs ✅️ Enhance the Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit And much more. Learn about the @pasenate.com Affordability Action Plan: pasenate.com/affordability/
Far too many families are struggling to make ends meet as the cost of everything from groceries to childcare rises. Our bill will ensure parents and caregivers get hundreds of $ more in tax credits by aligning our state Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit with the enhanced federal credit.

Working Pennsylvanians are struggling to make ends meet, and PA’s $7.25/hr minimum wage doesn’t put food on the table. We need Senate Republicans to join us and finally get Pennsylvanians the living wage they deserve. 🔗 penncapital-star.com/labor/senate...
As a nurse who worked in a nursing home, I know just how important our CNAs are to patients' quality of life and care - and that more support is needed to ensure they are paid a living wage for the vital role they play in our health care system.
What a beautiful evening raising the pride flag in Hatfield Township - for the first time! 🏳️🌈 Together, we reaffirmed that no matter who you are or how you identify, every Pennsylvanian deserves to live a life free of discrimination and intimidation.
Thanks for the shout out @strictscrutiny.bsky.social! We won’t stay silent as SCOTUS chips away at our democracy. You can listen to my comments here: www.senatorcollett.com/sen-collett-...
Great news in our fight against trafficking: the PA Senate just passed SB 45, my bill with Sen. Dush to enable law enforcement to better target & prosecute prostitution related trafficking crimes. This bill is especially important in light of the large, international events PA will host this year.
With Senate Bill 25, we can remove obstacles for PA's nurse practitioners, letting their skills shine while ensuring patients get the care and attention they deserve. We can join 28 other states who have already embraced full practice authority. Let's get it done.
Suicide accounts for 6 in 10 gun deaths in the United States. On Gun Violence Awareness Day, we remember those who have been tragically lost and renew our efforts to build healthier, safer communities free from gun violence.
Happy Pride, PA! My team & I were excited to attend pride flag raisings in solidarity with our LGBTQ+ neighbors. While certain people in power try to legislate away LGBTQ rights, celebrations like these remind us that there is power in community & in standing up and showing up just as we are.
May is AAPI Heritage Month! I'm proud to be working with @pasenatorkim.com, @pasenatorsaval.com and fellow members of the PA Legislative Asian Pacific American Caucus on legislation to combat prejudice & celebrate our AAPI communities by creating an inclusive AAPI curriculum in public schools.

Until we establish consistent, statewide guardrails that protect consumers and our environment, I join many of my constituents in opposing data centers in our neighborhoods. No community should be treated as a testing ground for high-impact industrial development.
