So many things in the Cuddle Kobold update are halfway there and achievable, a good day of work away from being done. So it hurts how little I've been able to work on it. Someone else would've been done months ago.
I got it! GameObject.FindWithTag is more efficient, but it's also only running 3 times; I was worried it was going to need to look for the pooled object manager with every footstep, but it only needed to look each time an AudioSurface type was encountered. So far so good! #unity3d #gamedev #indiedev
It does look better as a proper stopper, I'll leave it that way. Intrusive thought: "Player will think they can pull out stopper now."
Didn't quite make it for the day, but here's the Holiday Catch-up for Cuddle Kobold: Just a Bite's Bonus Update, talking about progress and what I'll be doing next! Read it here! ⤵️ www.patreon.com/posts/holida... #indiegame #furrygame #gamedev
I'm in one of your other packs, may I still apply, or is that being greedy?
New Patreon / SubStar post, a preview video with some of the changes upcoming to Cuddle Kobold: Just a Bite's long-overdue bonus update! ...Why is the thumbnail a basketball? www.patreon.com/posts/just-b... #indiegame #gamedev #vr
Unity Animation Editor tamed, Kobold Headpats animation (minus some automatic stuff) achieved.
It might be Bluesky compression, but the grayscale changes the feel to harsher and darker. A lighter shade for the middle grays may help, but my suggestion would be to pick a Super GameBoy-like palette to make your promotional default. It'll set a unique tone. I went kinda retrowave with mine.
I've thought about how to best to implement redecoration in a VR game, and I think I've figured it out: The Furniture Gun. BANG BANG BANG! Three piece suite. #gamedev
Good thing I'm not developing a VR game in Unity 2022 or anything! Now I can't have access to the update to "com.untiy.xr.openxr"! (Oh, also "XR: Fixed issue where Quest Link would fail when using DX12 and single pass rendering." I'm sure that's no big deal FOR A VR GAME.) #gamedev #indiedev #vr #xr
Since I dug it up, here's Steamed Hams but it's Isometric Exercise. Probably my most complex and favorite voxel piece. I did a LOT of rewatching to catch all the little details. You can view it in live 3D here, but it's missing some of the shader effects: skfb.ly/6wupD #voxel #magicavoxel #voxelart
I remembered the NES/Famicom d-pads didn't just have the little triangles, but proper little arrows, that might work even better than what I suggested. Hope I'm not sticking my nose in too far, sorry!
Forgive the sloppiness, I'm drawing this with my finger in the back of a moving car, but little inset arrows with the negative space might give it a bit of the d-pad feel you want? Only if you want to go that route, of course.
This was actually an issue when I started colorizing Rulent Tower for GBC support. Previously I picked a sort of vaporwave palette, suddenly I could make things all the colors. (Or most of them, GBC is real bad at yellow.) And I had no idea what color Rulent Tower actually was. Red? Blue? Purple?
It's funny I can't find anything that is literally... two bars and some non-skid pads on it. Yes, I can just improvise something probably, but I don't want it to soak up the heat, I want minimal blockage of the vents and intakes, and most importantly I want long arms hugging laptop. Wouldn't you?
