And now testing the camera on the huge ass tripod I found on the street (yes!!): and I'm grateful I carried that monstrosity all the way home.
Testing the filter I constructed for the solar eclipse on Wednesday and it's working! Lots of black tape & of course I used a filter that is appropriate for the occasion
Typical. The house that they're building around the corner is of course not for the general public desperately trying to find affordable flats. No, it's once again fucking condos for "smart investors".
Today in "things I found on the streets": a very heavy Manfrotto 117B. And it's not broken.
There are many fascinating birds out there but #swifts definitely are in my top 5! This morning they were very busy and sometimes so close I could almost touch them. Stood on a chair on my balcony (with a 500mm lens... neighbours must've thought I'm crazy) but it was worth it:
So sorry that I'm too tired to function, work, but I went to a workshop about moths last night and even though we didn't see many (3)(it was too windy), this little guy didn't want to leave: Zimtbär / ruby tiger moth
My work laptop is having a moment and I have no clue what is wrong with it. It started with me trying to reply to a mail and the laptop would just type AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA and not stop. No weight on the keyboard. Maybe it was trying to be honest? And tell me to stop working? Ä
Have a #photooftheday from last Sunday's visit to Gosen to watch some black terns #birding
Lazy day on the balcony today. So glad it's a public holiday! Especially after a very busy weekend of #ShapeNote singing with friends from all over the globe (Australia, Europe, USA). Weather is perfect for swimming, picnic or bbq but I'm knackered 😆 Plus: I'm going through the photos I took
Been singing for the last 3 days at the 11th Germany #SacredHarp convention. (that our Berlin group is hosting) Tired but buzzing is probably the best description.
Getting the balcony finally ready for spring. Some plants survived the winter (one of them I've had for 7 years now, one for 2 years). The new plants are all bee/insect friendly choices. Balcony might be small but trying my best to make it a good place for wildlife. #balconygarden
In the evening I went back to #BemptonCliffs - long walk, and proper frozen by the end of it. No more puffins but I found the thing with the eyebrows on a sign @adrianedmondson.bsky.social
Saturday we explored Bridlington and I got another lifer (yay!!). A turnstone. The weather was fantastic! Finally warm enough to be out in a t-shirt. (Not wearing 3 layers)
More from #bemptoncliffs #ukbirding Went back there the second day after a visit to Bridlington. Thank you @rspb.bsky.social for making it possible to become a member although I live abroad.
We ended our day with a sunset walk along @rspb.bsky.social #BemptonCliffs and it was simply breathtaking for me. - razorbill - gannet - guilemot and my very first puffin added to my life list. What an amazing place! (Find the one puffin...)
Bought two second hand books as well. Because I can never resist a second hand bookstore. And of course we had ice cream!
Then there were kittiwakes all around us because they nest on the cliffs along the Marine Drive. Make that lifer number four please. Such pretty birds! Also very noisy! We spent a nice sunny afternoon in Scarborough.
Afterwards we drove over to Scarborough, took a long walk along the beach where @jeauxlatham.bsky.social spotted "something white and black" that turned out to be an eider duck! Never expected to see one on this trip.
Currently on a #birding holiday with @geekwatson.bsky.social and @jeauxlatham.bsky.social - we have so far spend four days going on long walks and birding adventures. Started on Friday May 1st with a trip to Wykeham Forest - beautiful sunshine. And two lifers: - crossbill (2nd pic) - tree pipit
Well hello there, little nightingales #birding @thf100.de What a beautiful morning this was! Surrounded by skylarks and nightingales.
Getting emotional bc I found old concert/musical tickets while cleaning my desk. Fettes Brot 2003, only 4 days after my returned from an Erasmus year in the UK. Mamma Mia in HH. And Wir sind Helden open air. As for the other Fettes Brot ticket: I was sick that day. But saw them on that tour earlier
Late for #postboxSaturday but posting anyway. Because this lonely postbox is kind of iconic
"Your nearest window might be behind you instead of where it is supposed to be on your booked window seat."
Took a long walk in the snow on icy paths. And look who I've met again! #foxoftheday @chrisgpackham.bsky.social another fox waiting patiently for its prey to appear
Fresh snow covering all the icy patches on the pavement. Love a good Berlin winter where all the streets are cleared but no one cares about cyclists or pedestrians.
