The 'Wildlife of Pandora' piece is at last underway. Going to take a while as it's very complicated, with a lot of elements, but so far, so good, so far, so good...
Lest we forget... the July 4th Amity Pond Tragedy. This was an A3 commission done a few years back. I was asked to do the Pond Attack but from underwater.
Four new A4 prints done especially for the forthcoming @dinoconuk.bsky.social ! Of course, if you can't make Dinocon, but you're interested in them, just DM me for details.
On this day in history, in 1975, Chrissie Watkins was killed in an apparent boating accident. I drew this homage to her a few years ago...
My new art booklet, Dinosaur Drawings, is now in stock! It's a simple 48-page A5 (6 x 9in) booklet collecting various sketches done for buyers of my other artbooks. I'm selling it for £7 or £15 with a sketch (on the inside front cover) plus postage. DM if you're interested!
Loved this artwork, but I never got a good scan of it. It was one of those pieces that came to me fully formed in my head - a sabre-tooth disturbed mid-meal in the rain - and drew it very quickly. Have tried to match what it was that appealed to me ever since, but have never really been able to.
Demonic Diplocaulus A4 private commission for an illustration to be included in a new Silent Oracle RPG book. It shows a giant Diplocaulus that has fallen through the roof of a cave. In a nook on a stalagmite is the skull of a gorilla (it all makes sense in the game!)
A trio of ceratopsian drawings for a buyer of my artbooks - all still available!
A piece done entirely for fun: In an alternate Dreddverse, Judge Dredd is saved from the jaws of Satanus by the timely intervention of Judge Grrr. A3 pen & ink. Very much a homage to a classic Mick McMahon spread from The Cursed Earth saga. Original available if anyone is interested.
Hell Creek Crossing A2 (16.5 x 23.5in) private commission A pair of T. rexes harass a gathering of Triceratops crossing a river. Overhead a pair of azhdarchids and a flock of wading birds take flight. I've included a few details.
Coming 26 Feb 2027... Written by Charlene Da Silva Graham with illustrations by myself. Thought I'd also show a new piece: a pod of Palaoparadoxia, a member of the Desmostylia - those weird mix of hippo and walrus - are startled by a tweenage megalodon and split for cover in a kelp forest.
Work in progress on an A2 (16.5 x 23.5in) private commission. A Triceratops gathering cross a river to escape attacking T. rexes. Looking forward to inking the trikes.
Very pleased that, thanks to @comicprintinguk.bsky.social , all my artbooks are now back in stock! They're £20 each or £35 with a drawing, plus postage. Anyone interested in copies can DM me for details.
"The Fourth is strong with this one..." Been a while since I've done any Star Wars art so is a good excuse to show some old pieces.
Death and Susan family portrait photo-bombed by the Death of Rats. A3 birthday present for a Prachett-loving friend. I added some white acrylic to the faces because I wanted to give them a sort of alabaster look.
Pencils for a large, very complicated piece I'm working on. This is going to take a while especially when you have to draw six legs instead of four...
As I'll be attending my first @dinoconuk.bsky.social in July, I wanted to try something new, so I thought "coasters"! They'll be available at the con: £15 a set. Each coaster is cork-backed and 10 x 10cm. Also happy to post them at the same price plus postage. DM me!
A couple more drawings for artbook buyers: Judge Andersen, who I gave a bit of a Shakespearian feel. A Warhammer 40K Tyranid
Been a while since I sold any artbooks but had a sudden run on them this week (go figure). It did give me a chance to do some drawings which I love doing. Really enjoyed the Tusken Raider and bantha. The others are a pliosaur and meal, and a yawning trike.
Ceratosaurus portrait. A4 colour pencils and fineliners on green paper. Original available
Found the pencils for this T. rex v Trike piece - a first draft of the retro artwork done for the Natural History Museum style guide. They felt it was a bit too modern-looking and I reworked it (colour version attached). However, I decided to ink it anyway. Original available. DM me for details.
Moonlit T. rex portrait for a little something I've got in mind. A4. Colour pencils on red paper. Original available. DM me for details.
With the dust settled, been looking at some of the pieces from the forthcoming (Feb 27) shark book. Quite pleased with some. These represent the effort to not just do everything blue. Spathobathis; Cretoxyrhina, and Helicoprion
Got my comp copies of Judge Dredd Megazine #490 which goes on sale today and includes my first ever strip art for the Meg. Written by bestest bud Ned Hartley the story features dino-Judge Grrr! I've attached a couple of the B&Ws - hope we get to do more!
More dino fun. My first try at Cryolophosaurus. And to live up to its name, did it a little icy. This is actually for some merch ideas I'm playing with but original (a4) is available. DM for details.
Cleveland Shales A3 private commissiom. Dunkleosteous makes off with the carcass of a Diplognathus while pursued by a Gorgonichthys, a Gymnotrachelus and a trio of Cladoselache. Bottom left, a Bungartius and 3 Tegeolepis exit the scene. The ruckus disturbs shoals of ammonites and osteocones.
A bit of fun dinosaur art. A beachcombing Allosaurus scores big finding the corpse of an Opthalmosaurus on the edge of the Sundance Sea (which puts me in mind of one of favourite Cure songs).
