Medellín Colombia - Caught a feeder bus from Laureles to Poblado barrio. And yes the bus driver had decorated his area with purple shag. Yes bright purple shag on the back of his seat, framing the mirrors and the drive stick was also layered with a purple poodle. We couldn't stop laughing.
Bogotá cycling infra is just amazing - One of the best cities I have had the privilege to cycle in. Physically protected bi directional lanes are well designed. Many styles, curb protected, centre median & raised to ht of the sidewalk. Here are a few examples,
It turns out Bogotá also has a Ciclovia on major holidays like today - Independence Day. So I was able to ride the Ciclovia again. Double "bucket list" Took one of the many open street routes to Parque Simón Bolǐvar. It was busier then yesterday if that is possible.
Made it. Hit another "bucket list". Cycled Bogotá's ciclovia. Rode Panama & Medellín ciclovias before, but Bogotá's was largest. The photos do not do it justice. It was full of people participating - mostly cycling. My partner and I had a great time.
Arrived in Bogotá Colombia for a visit. Major effects for Soroche - altitude sickness, as I currently live at sea level. So taking it easy. But yes of course, sharkdancing is finding cycling easier than walking. Using Tembici bikeshare to get around. So far, as anticipated cycling infra is amazing!
Peru 2nd round president election: only 759 votes separating Sanchez's (left leaning) Juntos por el Perú & Fujimori's (far right) Fuerza Popular. Will now go to the National Election Board & the approximately 1,600 challenged tally sheets before a winner is declared. www.infobae.com/peru/2026/06...

Needed a break from the beach in this newest heat wave of + 32C days. My view from a hammock in Parque Rodo Montevideo Uruguay. A refreshing cooler breeze under the trees. www.plenglish.com/news/2024/01...

To learn from history you need to remember history. Montevideo, Uruguay - Spanish marker in a square beside a university campus - translated to english "special commission resolution, August 14, 2016 law 18.596 "Memorial to the student martyrs in Uruguay. Never More state sponsored Terrorism."
U.S. has redesigned it's food guidelines. The new clear message: EAT REAL FOOD. Priorize whole nutrient dense food - protein, dairy (no added sugars), vegetables, fruits, healthy fats & grains (whole) last. Messenger aside - I welcome the major shift. This is how I eat! www.usda.gov/about-usda/n...

My Montevideo Uruguay neighbourhood park - Parque Rodo had a 2 day event (sponsored by the city) with food trucks, gourmet artisan foods, crafts/plants for sale plus of course music. It was packed for Sunday afternoon with 1,000's enjoying spring - for All Soul's Day.
Today was my birthday! We went for a bike ride & picnic along Uruguay's south "gold coast" from Punta Colorada to Punta Negra. It has spectacular views and a very safe side path along the road and ocean.
Visited Montevideo's Uy Tristán Narvaja feria. It's more than a 100 years old. Spans 20 square blocks. Every Sunday - on offer: a mix of fruit/vegies, spices, nuts, clothes/household goods new & used, shoes books, artisan crafts, antiques, plants + food venders & musicians. An amazing scene!!!
Spent the afternoon at Parque Roosevelt Montevideo Uruguay. First state park created in Uruguay. With an area of 1,492 hectares of forest, it is one of the largest recreational areas in the city. Amazing place for a afternoon walk. visitaruruguay.com/montevideo/p...
