If we lose the Fourth Estate, we lose our democracy. We are losing the fourth estate. Very quickly. We are being lied to every day. We need to stand up and shout in order to get the news media back on track. It won't happen on its own.
And this is Sukiyaki. "Suki" for short. (Have to give her a mention or she'll accuse me of playing favourites!):
I've spent SO many of my 56 years on diets, doing exhausting exercises. However, as it turns out, not being able to afford food is actually the fastest track to larger eyes and sharper hip bones. Silver linings people. Silver linings!! (Fainting in public is the down side.)
I'm going to go with this look for any upcoming job interviews. Conventional hasn't served me well in the past...
My first year of college at age 17. It was... homey. UMC, Munich, Kaserme McGraw.
@selenearkadia.bsky.social As a horror fan, have you seen Near Dark, Company of Wolves, or Death Machine? The last one is trash, but worth it for Brad Douriff's over the top performance. The first two are personal favorites and I never meet anyone who's seen them. What I WANT to look like:
Here's to war hero fathers!! Though yours definitely got the less ambiguous war. We actually belonged in that fight.
I wrote a letter to Harrison Ford when I was 10 asking him to marry me. My mother pointed out that he was her age, and he ended up marrying someone pretty much close to my age. But in those days, just sending a fan letter meant you got a signed photo back in the mail. I still have mine.
Haven't read this since I was 14 (in 1984). It's stayed with me pretty damned vividly, but I've decided to revisit it, as I'm just not quite depressed enough.
No, actually there are literally testicles that people buy and hang off of their vehicles. Have you not seen them? They're all over the place here. Here's a photo: wpcdn.us-midwest-1.vip.tn-cloud.net/www.honolulu...
Thanks!! She's a snuggle bug as well. She sleeps in my arms at night like a purring teddy bear. This is my other one: Lirin. I had zero clue that both of them were going to turn out to be long-haired cats when I adopted them. (Hard to tell with kittens.) My entire life is now cat fur.
Vet bills have been shocking in recent years. When I adopted Suki as a 9-month-old kitten (15 years ago), she came home from the shelter life-threateningly ill. It cost me $3,500 to save her life. But she's possibly the sweetest cat ever, and thanks me every day with her unconditional affection.
That actually sounds kind of awesome. Saw this gal at the protest, and her shirt has my energy.
Was absolutely unaware they were both long-haired kitties when I adopted them from the shelter as youngsters (15 years ago). My life is cat hair.
Once again, in spite of the massive crowds gathered right during news time on a Saturday, when nothing else is going on, I saw not a single local affiliate on the ground at the protest. Back when I was working in news, this would have been a weekend producer's dream.
91 degrees with a breeze. Great marching weather for this city. Once again, everyone was LOVELY.
Diversion from politics #30089 Who are your favourite Breaking Bad-verse characters? (Not counting Mike, because he's everyone's favourite.) Mine (in no particular order):
Since I've already clearly lost my mind, or have possibly died and gone to hell, I've decided to take "art" photos of grapes:

Went to my parents for Christmas, and once again, wished I had the income or the job connections to live in Tucson. It's so beautiful there.
