We're their landlord. We value them, and we recognize that we need each other for the long-term. We are continuing to engage in a community-driven process as we approach a City Council vote in August.
We are operating on an aggressive timeline to reach a new lease, and we have been explicit with the Blazers that design information and clarity around public investment are necessary to move forward. The absence of essential details from the Blazers is slowing progress at a moment when urgency is required. We know that the NBA is committed to Portland and we look forward to working with them to ensure negotiations on a renovated Moda Center and a new long-term lease happen in good faith."

"The suggestion that the Trail Blazers are withholding essential information is not accurate.
The Trail Blazers and the City worked for several months in lockstep with the state and county in developing what became Senate Bill 1501 and a market-rate deal framework.
Since that time, we've been engaged in multiple discussions of renovation elements, conceptual visions, and building walkthroughs with the Mayor and other City officials. The City has more information than state leaders had during the legislative session.
The Trail Blazers are ready to begin formal negotiations immediately using the framework set for us by SB 1501 and the $365 million already made available for this project. However, the parties must reach an agreement this year. We share the City's sense of urgency. The next step for the City to bring a term sheet to the table.'

PBS says it was the night of May 24, 1856, when Brown and a group of men, including his sons, went near Pottawatomie Creek where several slavery sympathizers were staying. The Earthshot Prize, an initiative founded by Prince William that aims to fund promising climate solutions, is a prestigious affair. Last year's Earthshot awards ceremony, in Rio de Janeiro, featured a weeklong celebration with performances by Kylie Minogue and Shawn Mendes. (
Now, a pall hangs over the prize proceedings, set to take place in Mumbai this year. A major funder of the awards, the global port logistics company DP World, has been rocked by recent revelations of close ties between its billionaire chief executive, Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, and the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
In one initially redacted email from 2009, bin Sulayem tells Epstein he had
"enjoyed the torture video." Bin Sulayem's identity was later revealed by the Department of Justice after pressure from two U.S. representatives, Ro Khanna, Democrat of California, and Thomas Massie, a Kentucky Republican, to make public more names. Bin Sulayem stepped down as chairman of DP World this month.

Twitter got rid of its content moderation standards and now it’s full of racial slurs and computer generated CSAM. It’s not that much to ask that people leave the site and use one of several alternatives whose algorithms aren’t tuned to spread abusive and illegal content for the clicks.
