Oh my. Found this framed print from the Irish Times, Feb 1947, at the St Brigid’s May fair this morning. German industrialist charged with war crimes (spoiler: he gets richer in the end), Palestine ‘threat to world peace’, an Irish rugby win over England & some lovely blouses on sale at Switzers.
My wonderful PhD supervisee (with @ainemahon.bsky.social) Cormac Mac Gabhann has published his first article on the Apple Classroom and was interviewed on the FreshEd podcast (links below). He argues that classroom management software is not neutral, but transforms the pedagogical environment.
You can say what you like about A.J. Ayer, but he knew how to pose for a book cover.
The incredible Grace Petrie tonight at the Workman’s Club. What a show. She’s in Belfast tomorrow - don’t miss it!
I'd like to watch this but the link did this ⬇️. However, if I search "Leslie Feinberg" I can see materials. Do you know the name of the short film?
A timely Sunday reminder from Simone de Beauvoir: “Few tasks are more like the torture of Sisyphus than housework with its endless repetition: the clean becomes soiled, the soiled is made clean, over and one, day after day…The battle against dust and dirt is never won”
At the wonderful Centre Culturel Irlandais in Paris. Right in the Latin Quarter, next to the Panthéon. It’s not just artist residencies and long-term accommodation - anyone with an interest in Irish culture can avail of very reasonable rates for short-term stays.
I think Merleau-Ponty is great on the affective dimensions of thought i.e., the ways that we think is ultimately bound up with the ways things are perceived meaningful for us as human beings. Here he is in the Preface of PP
This fella comes to visit us every day when the dog isn’t looking. Not to be too essentialist or whatnot, but he’s just so macho. I’ve never in my life met a cat with such swagger. Look at those eyes; he’s even got little freckles on his nose (this photo doesn’t do them any justice, sadly)
Like all of us, Ellie is completely outraged by the state of the world. But instead of relaxing in a nice bubble bath, she prefers to decompress from the stresses of the world by eating everyone’s slippers while they sleep.
What a glorious start to 2025. #italianalps #stelvio #catsofbluesky
