Smoke from wildfires in northwestern Ontario is causing very poor air quality and reduced visibility. Conditions may improve Friday morning.

During heavy smoke conditions, everyone’s health is at risk regardless of their age or health status.

Limit time outdoors. Reschedule or cancel outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by wildfire smoke, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should avoid strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

Protect your indoor air from wildfire smoke. Actions can include using the highest quality air filter that your ventilation system can handle and/or a certified portable air cleaner that can filter fine particles.

If you must spend time outdoors, limit the time as much as possible. A well-constructed, well-fitting and properly worn respirator type mask (such as a NIOSH-certified N95 or equivalent respirator) can reduce your exposure to the fine particles in the smoke. Even though exposure may be reduced, there can still be risks to health.

It’s gotten dark inside from all the #wildfire smoke obscuring the sun. My iPhone can’t capture the shade of yellow the sky and everything is. It’s like a solar eclipse except instead of shadow-black, it’s sepia-yellow. I don’t recall it being this dark before. Glad Carney is upping our emissions /s

Despite my heat pump continuously cooling my place on the hottest day of the year, with Humidex in mid-40s and me consuming electricity for shower and laser therapy, my solar panels STILL sent more solar power to the grid than I consumed from the grid. That’s energy superpower! #ClimateAction

Wildfire smoky Toronto air. It’s getting darker, yellower as morning progresses. My iPhone doesn’t really pick up the beige-yellow colour. I went for a truncated walk with @canadastrong.bsky.social BreatheTeq mask on. No one else was, like they’re telling their heart & lungs, I don’t care about you!

Not a peep about this orange (!) alert on the weather forecast. Yet while forecast showed Humidex into mid-40s, starting tomorrow, the alert from Environment Canada said nada about that. Humidex plus 20+ at night is the real heat slayer. Are heatwaves becoming the norm? #ClimateCrisis #cdnpoli

"I purchased a DAVID Delight Plus AVE device in 2011. I use the device regularly and it still works. I recently contacted Mind Alive Inc. because I thought I might need a repair.
Instead, Carol took time to trouble shoot with me several mornings and found the problem. I need no repair. Her customer service was outstanding.
I reflected on all the years I worked as a Social Worker or therapist and on clients who accessed AVE. I recall clients who expressed much satisfaction with use of the AVE device for calming, alertness, sleep, etc.
I recall one mother, while sitting with me outside a courtroom, who said 'there should be an AVE on the wall' for these children. She was referring to juvenile delinquent children suffering from trauma, anxiety, depression, etc. For me, I preferred using natural interventions for children rather than using a chemical prescription. I hope more people become familiar with Mind Alive Inc. and use these devices on a regular basis for self-regulation."

At last! For the first time in 2026, I have more net solar credits than I consumed hydro. Colder cloudier winter and a long, thick snow blanket delayed this by about a month. But it helped that this May my solar panels generated more power than in 2025. 🙌 Free energy #ftw! #ClimateAction 🇨🇦
