So much fun and cool reading this summer for reasons. ✨ But despite (insert worst emotional experience of the last decade here), I keep meeting new people, going out to events, seeing the city, making new friends, playing board games, and doing stuff. So. You lose some and you sort of persist some.
Working on a game that's real and people play and is on a magazine cover sure feels nice. Probably gonna have stuff I worked on in the next patch and I'm excited.

Just moved and I have a box that's occupied 75% by cables sorted by category in re-used bags, and I had to label one "small ethernet cables" to remind that despite it having ethernet cables inside of it, they will never be of a length that I actually want. Also, the USB bag is horrifyingly swollen.
I think this is maybe the most overly-optimistic cringe thing I've ever written about technology (that wasn't me just reading Hyperion and being hyperbolically hopeful for post-human technology). Sorry, bud, VR isn't that good, lmaooo.
Listening to music when I'm sleeping utterly destroys any usefulness of this, but it's still kinda funny sometimes. #3 listener of Richard Dawson globally, I'll take it for the GOAT.
@backloggd.com best of time, the only game lists that actually matter to me. I don't repeat games on these. It's possible Dispatch will edge out The Alters when I'm done, but I think my heart is in just how unique and surprising The Alters was as a narrative game experience.
Yeah, I got this one, and it makes the two 12-year-old monitors next to it look so bad. I have to lower the brightness on it or it blinds out my ability to even use the others. You can see the difference of black levels even in a photo.
Idk what's worse, watching 19,000 episodes of TV shows, or the fact that Critical Role makes up 13% of the total time I've watched TV shows as an adult.
The TV tracking app I've used for over a decade stopped working, so I just spent hours transposing all of that to Showly. This one gives more precise numbers. God damn crazy ass numbers. Not close to everything, as it doesn't include most of age 5 to age 17, so this is mostly my adult life.

Epic gay boy moments in Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake. Crazy how pivoting to a more mundane world lets them explore more grounded relationship dynamics in the same fun tone (while also having sick fantasy stuff on the side).
Really depends on the IP, though. Some are close to 1:1 the original character style, and some are this shit.
I don't "take The Game Awards seriously," but casually caring doesn't bother me either. The only things that annoy me in TGA this year are: lots of things in related categories aren't indie games, and The Alters was snubbed super hard for Best Narrative and Best Performance.

Stopped working in film as a young adult because "just be really good at your job" wasn't at all how you find work. The game industry has mostly gone well living like this (except for the two cancelled games, where any part of the team excelling had no relevance to the final outcome).
