I had this as my bed for more than 15 years, with a different mattress than shown here (this is a long full or something like that...) I'd still have it today but when I moved from the last location I was moving out of the USA and didn't have room for it in the trailer.

The wood is all black from the outside so it's hard to see in the image.
Headboard is blue insulation foam that was later covered with upholstery fabric of different types/colors to match bed coverings, lol!

This was at a different home than the other images and is over a rug to keep from screwing up a newly laid floor in this room. The flat plywood top was in two pieces, one was 1/3rd of total length and the other was 2/3rds. This was very heavy and while it was screwed down when first set up, I left those screws out when I moved it later.

This shows the same frame with a king mattress on it and a canvas drop cloth that was put under the bed because it was so hard to move the mattress (very thick foam with rubber grippers on the bottom) which makes the step at the front end easier to see. there are papers and a box on the side step. The three chunks of foam to the side were used to elevate the head of the mattress for GERD relief and then ended up down there to keep the cat (also pictured) from spending all day under the bed. The white and black privacy screen can be seen on the right of the image, behind that was a table with plants and a cat tree that was tall enough to allow the cat to watch outside through the window, but I didn't have to wear clothing in the room. The cat had a little door near the floor to get in that area. I had to fold part back to get in to clean and water the plants, etc. These were made with corrugated plastic (~1/4th inch in the first version and half inch in this latest version) cut to be ~2 feet wide with extra wide duct tape for "hinges". the black at the top was to block light that woke me up some days and to make sure that no one at the window could see in at all. The foam headboard is covered in fake leather like vinyl with yellow/gold thread accents on it. This was taken something like 12 years after the earliest picture here
