One of the new battery trains for the unelectrified lines around Kaiserslautern, Neustadt and Karlsruhe. Still not in service yet (was supposed to be December 2025, or maybe even 2024?) 🥲🔋
Hmm, it's just the reality though is it? To Stuttgart is faster and it's bigger in terms of people and economy I believe. Fun to compare these with current numbers :D the distribution is the same, but almost everywhere does have substantially more passengers
Those South West Germany plans were really into tilting trains. I guess to keep infrastructure costs lower, they all construct the fast IR and RE trains as tilting trains, diesel and also electric. Nowadays outside Bavaria tilting trains aren't for the future
These studies are certainly interesting: very detailed from status quo numbers, developing different stages of Takt introduction, down to how a new Takt timetable should be marketed. Also found this book from 1981 discussing history of Takt timetables and the various planning stages of Swiss Takt
For Germany, ofc there was takt in Berlin & Hamburg S-Bahn + a couple small lines for decades, and then takt-IC network from 1971. But large scale Takt of regional trains only happened in the 90s. Deutsche Bundesbahn did this pilot study for RLP, BW & BY, I'll check it out in the library tomorrow :)

Shout out to the light rail line, running a quite frequent service on a line that's single-track with passing loops not even at every stop. Also appreciate the cross-platform interchange with the RER!
Even though it's automated the metro should still run more frequently. Trains are very full in the city centre
It's not every train, and also sometimes they want to see everyone's ID and other times they just check ...select people. Adding like 10 mins to every train's journey would be too much probably

It's required as per the development plan and the developer may not put more parking. The city lowered the standard number of 1/unit to around 0.4-0.5/unit according to the state and its own regulations A lot of calculating going on lol
Dense urban development (170 units) right next to frequent S-Bahn and Stadtbahn (12 and 18 tphpd, respectively)? Two underground parking garages 😐 And that's with all reductions for urban area etc. already applied
Karlsruhe trams: we can't offer comfortable transportation because there's either no AC (so ~45°C/113°F onboard) or even if there's one, it's maximum 4° cooler than outside 🔥🥵 Stuttgart Stadtbahn: take a coat if our trains (even the one from the 1980s) are too cold for you ❄️🥶

It's a nice system! Its small museum also had a small mention of this "une rue, un tram" project
extreme vehicle shortage, a high-floor class TOI tram-train is running on a regular low-floor tram line. People are stumbling up the steps they don't expect 🤯
By the way, I put Hagen tram lines in OpenHistoricalMap, so they can be viewed in OpenRailwayMap.app (select "all time" in the calendar, "OpenHistoricalMap" for historical infrastructure in the settings) :)
open-air campus party was really like how you imagine partying at uni haha DJ set was mostly very good (2000s-2010s white girl music), if a bit chaotic towards the end 😋
