I was thrilled when I discovered that Topps were back in the game in 1992. Even more as (I guess thanks to the cup run) 3 Pompey players made the cut:
They look ace. I've never seen those before. I loved the big trading cards, I did move on to stickers as more schoolmates collected them. Found Bobby Kerr!
So close to being up there too! Ended up on the old Hayling Billy Trail as we fancied food at The Ship Inn as a treat afterwards!
If you see this, post a concert pic of your own. This is Kristin Hersh of the mighty Throwing Muses earlier this month at the Wedgewood Rooms in Portsmouth.
One assumes they see the irony in this? I would assume* hope that if I install the software it inevitably want me to buy that I would no longer see their own ads? *Not really assuming this, of course. #clickbait #adblocker
And Albrecht Durer, I think only available at the gift shop for his home in Nürnberg.
17 years ago to the day. "When Sol went up to lift the FA Cup, I was there" Glorious!
Well, to be fair I had a ghetto blaster too (twin tape, obv so I could copy ZX Spectrum games!) but it was too cumbersome for regular trips outside. I mentioned headphones though they became popular later – not many folk were out wandering about their crystal radio set and mono ear-piece!
Looking forward to a deep dive into the future of hi-fi by reading this February 2026 edition of #WhatHiFi
If you were held at Hilsea on the c0830 arrival at Portsmouth and Southsea train this morning, then I think my picture, taken on Hilsea Lines will explain why... 🦢😄
Well. This was the season that broke the donkey's back, to coin a phrase. Over a decade of (largely) piss-poor football and mismanagement I finally gave up my season ticket. By the end of August I was back, scrounging tickets and eventually my wife took pity and bought me a replacement ST.
