Wonderful almost total experience with friends, including explaining how pin holes work and why Camera is so nearly the Italian word for Room #OctoEclipse @OctopusEnergy
Two years ago I sponsored a MSc #datascience project at the University of Hull, using my library of wound photographs. Muhammad Owais MSc's prize winning project, led to us being asked to speak at Sepsis & Wound Care conference 2027. Should be interesting www.sepsis-woundcare.com/2027/speaker...
I bloody love graduation ceremonies. So many luminous, happy, smart young people, each to be rightly celebrated. This was the #Engineering and #Science Sheffield University ceremony. A rough count 60:40 ladies to men; so positive. The world needs brilliant people, brilliant women especially so.
I still come across people claiming that #Hydrogen cars are the future. I try not to laugh. So here is an update on the splendid comparison chart by @mliebreich.bsky.social with a realistic extrapolation to the next generation #EV
The question isn't "Do renewables require mining?" It's "Would you rather mine fuel forever, or mine infrastructure that keeps generating energy for decades?" For the same useful energy over 25 years, fossil fuels are, literally, a disaster #Climate #Energy #NetZero #Renewables #ClimateAction
UK Domestic #Renewables 2024 260,000+ MCS‑certified #SolarPV installation, a record year. Heat pump installs up 43% year‑on‑year. Battery storage up 105%, with most installed alongside solar. Solar PV prices fell from £9,238 to £7,561 on average
Meanwhile, #battery costs fell 45% in 2025 and deployment grew 46% to an ~250 GWh. The world installed enough battery capacity in 2025 to shift around 14% of new solar generation from midday into other hours of the day. ember-energy.org/app/uploads/...
In 2025, #renewables overtook #coal as the world's largest source of electricity. The rate of installation is 180 times faster than 2015 forecast. Each doubling of global cumulative #solar capacity reduces costs by ~20% (Wright’s Law, echoing Moore’s Law, aka technology Learning Curve).
Hidden behind the + icon on the #Copilot #Cowork chat box is a Manage Plugins item, which gives access to all the Cowork skills. It lists those in Cowork memory &in #OneDrive. You can see their #frontmatter description and enable/disable them. You can only manually edit the OneDrive skills however
Today’s domestic fleet of 2 million solar UK homes avoids 1–3 million tonnes of CO₂e per year. By 2030, that rises to 3–8 million tonnes per year (5 million homes) It's equivalent to removing 1–2 million petrol cars from the road. #Netzero #solarPV #WarmHomesPlan #FutureHomes
I feel validated 22nd April: new maximum #solar #UK generation record - 15GW 23rd April: new UK #zerocarbon record set - just 1.2% fossil fuel use Max #wind record was set in March this year
This might be a new record. Just 1.6% fossil fuel being used on the UK grid. #renewables #stopburningstuff
#Nuclear power reached a new high, up 1.2% #Wind increased 8%, limited by some poor conditions. #Renewables & nuclear growth exceeded the entire global increase in electricity generation. #Fossil fuels fell slightly but were over half of global generation; #coal remained the largest single source.
Just a couple of weeks to the SF '26 domestic #sustainability and #energytransition event in East #Yorkshire. Experts, insights, advice, honest conversations. No sales pitch. ferribysustainability.co.uk/2026/04/03/s... #NetZero
That's a billion pounds not being lost to the UK economy and gained by dubious nations. That was just in March. Think about it. #RenewableEnergy www.carbonbrief.org/analysis-rec...
Another good #renewables week in the UK The grid just keeps getting cleaner. Even year to date, mostly winter months, fossil fuels were only a little over a quarter of the supply. #NetZero
I used to live near Clearwater FL. Sometimes I'd cycle there on a slow Sunday with a pot of coffee just to watch the antics. Hilarious. Sometimes there was a car abandoned in the middle of it
Here's the latest UK new car sales figures from www.smmt.co.uk/vehicle-data... Petrol -6%, diesel -11% Meanwhile Pure #EV +24.2%, plug in hybrid +47%
