Iowa was an absolutely fucked up place to live that year. I wanted to confirm cuz multiple state fairs have this slide, and even the AI struggled to name some guys because of the clown car effect:

Just a 90lb dog getting bullied out of his palatial dog bed by an 11lb cat.

As an owner of a cast-off fail-doodle rescue myself, the breeders in this story sound like exactly the pieces of shit I expected. I think you're mostly on target for the grift's husbandly customers, there's also just a lot of "we don't really want a dog that's work" sentiments. (They're all work.)
