Film producer. Book 10 Scotland Street - an opinionated history of one house over two centuries now out in paperback
Glasgow Central Station main entrance and Gordon Street are reopened - making it starkly clearer how close the station came to destruction.
A matchbox picked up in a Zagreb restaurant 2009. I loved the design, now faded. Kajmakcalanska 2 seems to be still operating though much changed. I was working with young filmmakers, to a person depressed by the failure of the student protest againt the imposition of tuition fees -none in the USSR
A reminder of the facilities and information available to the members of the Old Edinburgh Club. And of my book of course.
My grandmother, born on this day, 1864 in a two roomed flat up a tenement stair at 124 Duke Street Glasgow. Then a busy noisy street, much of the traffic horse-drawn, lined with shops of all kinds. 124 is now a patch of grass and the street more or less deserted except for traffic passing through.
Wonderful exhibition on at the Neue Nationalgalerie- Ruin und Rausch, Berlin 1910-1930, with Laserstein's haunting Abend uber Potsdam 1930. Been wanting to see it for a very long time and was not disappointed. She was magnificent.
1978 version of 50's publication from which I learned to whip & lash for my Knots badge. Other essentials: army field manual c. 1930 & sheath knife on belt. At the risk of boasting, with five other wee girls, I regularly won putting up a bell tent comp. Best time =11 minutes. With skirts rolled.
In Berlin for the LOLA ceremony this evening. It is one of these beautiful Berlin spring days.
The Heron trees of the Buttes Chaumont this morning. These dark patches are nests. Unfortunately none flying this morning though I did catch a glimpse of a head peeling over.
L'Estampe. Favourite bar in the 19th where tonight couscous with végetable stew and good red wine cost 30 euros for 2.
