Some good news. After last night’s rain the entire province of Nova Scotia is green on the burn safe map. Yay!

This is from the front porch which needs some boards replaced. The new deck is out back. The gardens are my wife’s passion so she gets all the credit. Here’s what I’m working on:

Happy Friday. The porch is still dripping from overnight rain. The birds are singing and the sky is clearing to a blue sky. The air quality has improved since yesterday. And the new deck is close to finished. Hope you have a great weekend.

I’m building a new deck so a sunny day is just what I need. I’m documenting the progress on Gander. Rain tomorrow will give me a well earned day of rest.

I made lobster 🦞 rolls for supper tonight. Yummy! I had leftovers from Saturday night’s annual members lobster supper at the Church Point Social Club, a celebration of the harvest held at the end the fishing season. I also made broth from the shells and the bodies.

U Ste Anne burns at least one of these full of wood chips every day from September through March and sometimes into April. Tens of thousands of trees every year.

Université de St Anne is the oft cited example. “Waste” lumber is chopped and then burned. Trees are considered waste if they can’t be used for lumber, even if they are left in the forest to continue growing. Waste seems like an appropriate term. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

I haven’t checked the gauge yet but it was heavy. And then came the thunder snow. Quite an accumulation but it’s melting fast this morning and looking like a sunny day. I’ll let you know what the gauge says.

It’s pickup your RV trailer and get it out of our storage barn day at nearby Spec Resources. A sure sign that spring is here.

Looks like a rainy week ahead but at least we’re heading into double digit temperatures.

Smaller crowds than usual. Plenty of ATVs but those wingnuts love this kind of stuff.
