@slindseywales
Reader. Writer. Marcher lass. Usually found in the mountains of Mid-Wales. 2 cats, 1 husband, variable number of chickens (currently 3 unless I've forgotten to update this). Far too analog for any of your binaries. Here to lurk & chat.
Apparently I have now been immersed in railway stuff enough to spot errors in Rail Advent headlines*. This one should say "USATC S160" not "USA S160". & yes. The US Army Transport Corps designed steam locos. *tbf, I don't think they often have errors which is also why this surprised me
This is the face of a cat whose human put marmalade on their toast instead of butter.
Did a day trip to Swindon yesterday to look at little trains. Popped in to see the railway museum there too, and found it is full of (engineering) porn.
Sharing here because this was a magical moment just earlier. Had to abort my mission to shut the chickens up when I spotted this youngster taking a look at the big wide world beyond the nest. (Photo taken on 4x zoom from several feet away & there was at least one adult blackbird in the tree above.)
Obeying the quoted instructions this image amused me enough to save it...
Grotty weather out leads to bored cats so we put the telly on.
Stolen from a friend who posted it on FB:
"Human! You forgot to do something!" Oddly enough, I'm not actually going to light the fire when I've only got an hour before I need to go to work.
Been getting some interesting weather forecasts on my home screen widget since the met office updated their app...
This bit of my "Year in books" from Goodreads makes it look like there was a theme to my 2025 book choices 😆
Merry Christmas everyone! We got our tree up & decorated around 23:30 yesterday. Maybe next year I'll see if I can put lights on the pirate ship as well.
RascalCat thinks it is very unfair I won't share my mince pies. #ProofOfCat
Late to the party as I wasn't feeling up to writing alt-text yesterday. This was a shrub outside our front door a couple of weeks ago. Recent weather has now done for most of the colourful leaves round here.
So today at work I decided to go through my drawers & throw out old notes etc. Discovered to my combined joy & bafflement that one of the notebooks had actually started as a non-work one & is almost a historical artifact. This quote dates from between 2005 & 2008. @stevejwright.bsky.social
I think I just found a generational difference of interpreting words thing... Every time I get shown this ad I think "Why would someone living in a squat be asking Copilot's advice on how to decorate it?"
Rascal just found out I put jam on my toast this morning, not butter.
Thought we could do with a reminder that we live on a bloody gorgeous island, and even though certain people with loud voices like to tell us it's overcrowded, there's plenty of places that look like this. (Taken yesterday on the road between Llangynog & Bala.)
If you've not been before, I highly recommend visiting the Lindt factory shop at their chocolate museum if you can - even if it's just to see the giant guard-bunnies in person 😊
Telford has the best motorway services because it's the only one I know of with a steam hammer.
Oh hey, looking what I just found @stevejwright.bsky.social ! I still have the tiara & wand :-)
These are the best email notifications. @indiebites.bsky.social
Dee! (Am not there but I couldn't resist stealing a photo to respond thusly.)
The dreaded notification appeared on my app this evening. How soon can we get Welsh independence & do things more sensibly?
Could be worse.... (I couldn't actually find the photo of her stealing one of our drills but it does exist somewhere 😆)
40+ appreciation post, reskeet with a pic if you're on the right side of 40. Important note! I don't actually believe that there is a "right" side to be on of any age. Age just is & if we keep getting older it means we're still here & that's a good thing. That said:
I see we're posting food pics tonight? Husband said our dinner "Wasn't the wurst." Because yes, we do both love a corny pun :-)
