I let sports ruin my life. salt & vinegar chip enthusiast.
my knitting goal this year is a cardigan per quarter. I don’t have a pic of Q1 but here’s Q2. very classic drape and I love how the different tweed colors came together with the dark button band and hem
desperately need to know what research they did where they didn’t discover that a national park that borders Mexico is hot in the afternoon sun
not that it matters but nowhere in my post did I make it about Europeans. incredible things happening in my mentions. (no alt text but it’s screenshots of someone quoting my post and being insane about American sports and calling me a cuck)
a few friends have sent me flowers in honor of Lacey. I love having a community 🌈🤍
in light of Lacey crossing the rainbow bridge I would like to remind everyone that @weratedogs.com gave Lacey a 14/10 for being a gay ally in a rainbow crosswalk 💅🏻
but maybe when I’m 80 I’ll be walking in Paris and I’ll nod blankly at a person and then I’ll look down and see that eyebrow and that smile and ah involuntary smile will creep across my face. until then, Laceygirl.
Watching her decline the last few weeks was tough because we had no idea how to make the decision. But because she was Lacey, she let us know exactly when it was time. I’m so thankful for our vets who kept her going for so long.
Lacey was the best girl in the world and I already miss her terribly. It is a crushing despair to know that I won’t ever pet that soft head again. But we had her for 14 years! She was 16 and had bladder cancer for 3 years which made her a huge outlier. Grateful doesn’t even begin to cover it.
Lacey didn’t care for other dogs. She was a people dog. Except for her brothers. She fiercely loved her pack and would do anything for them. She loved Wrigley from the day we brought him home. And she was the only creature on earth Blevins allowed to bother him without a warning growl.
something y’all couldn’t know is that Lacey’s fur was insanely soft. like, so soft. strangers who pet her routinely asked me what dog shampoo she used 😂. just genetics and witchcraft, baby.
I told my vet this bit and she said “I mean I can’t disprove it…” I loved that she played along. Lacey was unique. Just truly one of a kind. Like all white dogs, she loved to be filthy. She could find mud even if it hadn’t rained in weeks.
longtime followers will know my theory that Lacey is actually a several hundred year old witch who accidentally got herself stuck in a dog’s body. she just looked at us like she was a person. theory goes that every 15ish years she fakes her death and moves somewhere else.
it was so funny because then they’d look back at me and look embarrassed like I caught them. but that was just Lacey. it was the same reason you all loved when I posted photos of her. she was impossible to look at without smiling. what a damn treat to have an animal who constantly spread joy!
Having a “special” dog was such a treat. My very favorite thing was walking Lacey and passing a person who would look at me with a blank expression. I’d watch their eyes naturally trail down to the muppet on my leash and then an involuntary smile would spread across their face.
I arrived on the scene later that year. While Blevins loved me instantly, Lacey was standoffish. She made me earn it. She liked being my husband’s # 1 gal. When she realized I’d always be # 2 she decided to be my best friend.
my husband adopted Lacey on Valentine’s Day 2012 to get his dog Blevins a friend. They were having free adoptions. Lacey was ~2 and had been a street dog. She walked up to the shelter. A human didn’t bring her. She strolled up on her own and turned herself in 😂
hi everyone. I need to deliver some sad news. this week, we said goodbye to Lacey. having a dog the internet loves is tough because while I deal with my grief, I feel a duty to let y’all know our girl moved on. here is a thread about a very good girl who I was so lucky to have known.
