I finished building my PV system today. The last step was to ground the panels. The supplied ground holes are half-way up the sides, so I drilled new holes and installed ground lugs at the bottom edge. The wire is bonded to the ground wire for the combiners (in turn bonded to the house EGC).

I wired up the emergency shutoff so we're all legit and safe with respect to emergency workers (it's 99% for fireman). I also wired the surge protection devices for lightning. I'm waiting for grounding panel lugs to arrive so I can properly ground out the solar panels to really finish up.

#3 on the list of achievable things we can do to reduce global warming. I know not everyone has the money for it or a house to put it on, obviously. If you do have a house the loan payments (if you can get one) still often come out lower than your power bill.

I turned my solar array on this morning. I have some more work to do to finish up the ground bonding, lightning protection, and emergency shutoff, but it's safe enough to operate now. We haven't used any grid power since I turned it on this morning, and our batteries are back at 100%.

Harvested some lemon balm this morning before the rain hit (after pulling a couple honeysuckle with the tractor, and transplanting a wild St. Johnswort). I'm drying some for tea, and making some tincture. I haven't really used it much, so this'll be fun to try out for things.

The tiniest chamomile harvest. Enough for a mug or two of tea. We planted it last year and I harvested the flowers to keep it from going to seed so it'd grow faster. I'd been letting this dry on a table in the basement, but replaced it today with fresh mullein leaves that need drying.

I set all the adult content filters to show, stupid bluesky.

Planted a little orchard today. 2 red haven peach, 2 canadian harmony peach, 2 lapin cherry, 2 black chokeberry, and 2 hazelnut trees. 6 fruit trees "the orchard" are together in the lower field. We don't expect to harvest the hazelnut, those are for native diversity, and hopefully specimen trees.

Then I limped it home doing 25 with the flashers and Angie driving behind in the FJ. Not sure if the coilver was faulty or just old (and it is kind of old). The coil doesn't contact the A-arm at full droop. It's been making noise, but the mechanic and I thought it was the upper ball joint.

I couldn't turn sharply without it making terrible noises, so I hit the flashers and backed up a ways to a spot I could park by the side of the road. I caught a *little* cell service and messaged Angie, but she was busy digging a hole for the solar array we're building... so didn't answer.

I was going out to pick up concrete and distilled water (for solar mounting and the tractor, respectively, a stick caught the radiator hose). Anyway, I took the Tacoma and this happened just as I hit the main high-speed road. It was folded worse and pressing against the tire and brake hose.

Head cheese, it's just whatever falls off a boiled pigs head left to solidify... basically an aspic but grosser. The image happens to have some added leak. My parents, having raised pigs, made it once but never again.

Spent yesterday washing and undercoating my cars. I do it in the spring to get the salt off. I'm now very sore. I also tried to fix a power steering leak at the return hose junction which went very poorly. I did get the Tacoma drivable again but man what a pain.

If nothing else, flexing organizing muscles is useful. No Kings 3 here in Montpelier, unlike 1 and 2, had trained and organized peacekeepers and legal observers, a planned backdrop, complex sound, and 2.5 hours of speakers. People who've never been involved before are learning to lead a movement.

What about these? My family had one when I was a kid. I believe the mouse pad has a very fine grid of red lines one direction and blue the other. The mouse doesn't work without the specialized mouse pad.

When we installed our front door originally it sat around too long and warped. We tried to compensate but couldn't get the door-frame warped to match, so it's always leaked around the edge. Today we finally added screw-on seals, and it no longer feels cold standing inside in front of the door.

I wanted to post a picture of the fabulous bowl @brewergnome.bsky.social made for Angie and me. The thin edge and spout make it ideal for mixing ice-cream as they allow me to get all the mixture in the maker (which needs to be moving as it's poured in). I always spilled some with my steel bowl.

Partially fixed my snowblower today. The sheer bolt on the 2'nd stage fan has opened the hole wider and wider such that it's bending under normal stress. I decided to try filling the hole back in by welding, and drilling it back out. It mostly worked.

I'm exhausted. Angie and I spent all of yesterday moving our new furniture from near Burlington to home. The furniture is custom made by a local artisan so it can be uncoated. The offgassing from most furniture treatments make me sick, so previous attempts to acquire furniture failed.

A simple volume pulseaudio script for #linux. I use this heavily. Getting it to work reliably is tricky, so I thought I'd share. It uses "wob" to display a % bar on wayland. The argument is "+X" or "-X" to change by X percent. "mute" will mute. The script is in the alt text for copy/paste.

My FJ's been throwing codes about the secondary air injection valve on the left side. It's frozen shut before, but it wasn't resolving this time so I finally took it apart. I'm not entirely sure how it works, but that definitely looks broken. I have a new one on order so I can pass inspection.
