Deep dives on the 7th and 8th rounders are up on Patreon. These are focused on a couple prep picks in Grant Hill and Kellan Tom. Link: www.patreon.com/BackfieldBre...
Alexander Frias crushed a left v left grand slam earlier tonight
Rd 5 & 6 deep dive is up on Patreon now. Focused on Aidan Knaak & Ryan Oshinskie. Two filthy changeups between them. Despite rehabbing TJS right now, I rank Oshinskie a bit higher than Knaak, due to better non-CH secondaries, but both are interesting profiles. Link: www.patreon.com/BackfieldBre...
The Rd 3/4 deep dive on Jones/Garcia is up on Patreon. It’s in the post, but I think there’s a very real chance Julian Garcia winds up being the best player in the class. The more I look into this pick, the more I love it. Video from Garcia’s 14 K, CGSO in the CA Southern Section Championship
I wondered if the Brewers might go with Christian Coppola from St Joseph's, but they went with his teammate Andrew Gaines. The fastball can get into the upper 90s but more mid-90s. Some good carry and VAA to it. Closed games this season. 47 K in 30.2 IP. Likely another $10k senior sign candidate.
Kellan Tom has shown exit velocities up to nearly 110 MPH already, and was the prep player of the year for Arizona last year. Was announced as a 1B pick, but had some interesting stuff on the mound too.
Grant Hill is probably the greatest Grant Hill in sports history, the Brewers 7th round pick has pretty big extension, close to 7 feett, good feel for the full mix, and I think there's quite a bit more velo in there. Spins it decently too, and I think that'll continue to increase with more velo.
Ryan Oshinskie missed all of 2026, but he had a tremendous Cape Cod League performance in 2025. It's a legit pitch mix, with a bit of an outlier fastball shape and a nasty changeup. He shows ability to spin multiple breaking balls too though, which is very intriguing.
Thread on Day 2 picks so far: Some recent video from Aidan Knaak here. 4FB and CH are very interesting, changeup is probably plus. SL/CV have decent shapes but doesn’t spin them super well. He had a down year this year, I’d assume the Brewers are viewing this as an interesting buy-low
Still 11/18 fits available (2/7 picked were Brewers' picks) as we head into Day 2 in a few minutes. I am assuming Archer Horn is heading to college now, though. Some other names I like as potential Brewers fits, and just players I am generally a fan of, beyond those in the post.
2/2 on fits with these first two picks. Just in the opposite order of what I would have expected!
This post is now free for everyone by the way. But here’s my write-up on Trey Ebel as a fit for the Brewers

Week 9 observations are out on Patreon! Stuck to the lowest levels today and focused on DSL catcher Moises Salazar (video of him with a CS yesterday) Also OF Brailyn Antunez, RHP Tyler Renz and a DSL arm of interest in RHP Dalvin Bodre. Link below ⬇️ Link: www.patreon.com/posts/week-n...

Doing my best Pitching Ninja impression here… Here’s a 96 MPH fastball from Jayden Dubanewicz in the first inning yesterday, and a slider he threw the next pitch for a K, and then an overlay of them. Dubanewicz is looking *very* good so far.
Here’s Payne’s 2nd HR of the game today, his 10th of the season. 414 feet according to the broadcast
111 MPH, 441 feet on this one for Fischer Something to really keep an eye on with Fischer is that the whiff rate has been steadily moving down of late, which I was pretty concerned about. A very positive trend that I hope to see continue. Rolling chart in the follow up below
Week 7 Observations are out on Patreon ($) Focused on: - Cooper Pratt & Jett Williams as potential call-up candidates. - Rylan Mills & what I'm seeing there (first full season HR in video) - Jayden Dubanewicz's strong first start in full-season ball this year Link: www.patreon.com/posts/158547...
