One part British, one part Spanish, with a hint of Belgian. Amateur dad and amateur writer, author of Dolores and Other Sorrows (finalist for the Eyelands Awards). Posting about literature, music, art and, somewhat reluctantly, politics.
I'm going to try my hand at kitbashing, the fine art of taking waste plastic and trying to make a model kit out out of it. Wish me luck, because I'm going to need plenty. #modelling
My collection of short stories, Dolores and Other Sorrows, is going out of print shortly. If you want a copy, make sure you order it before the end of August!
I never thought I'd post a picture of a dirty mug, but this one is cool: the coffee stains are in the shape of the tree of life. #booksky #dailyinspiration
I got to see #AnginedePoitrine live yesterday. If this is what our alien overlords will look like, I can't wait for them to come and take over. The best bit was when they spoke to the crowd in their own language and the crowd replied in the same language. Perfect!
Here's a wacky pic I took in my garden: the stem of a plant lines up perfectly with the hole in the leaf of the plant above it. That's given me a new idea: I'm hoping this picture will get someone's creative juices flowing so it can be used as inspiration for some art. #booksky #dailyinspiration
Some #streetart in #Brussels because why not? It's always a good time to post pictures of quality street art.
Is this a parrot? An oversized parakeet? Whatever it is, it's a tropical bird perched on a pine tree. Strange, because the picture was taken in #Brussels, and I never imagined Belgium to be a tropical country.
My fingers hurt after several hours of practicing #bass. I still haven't nailed the song that I'm rehearsing, though. 😫
Just like the one i made the other day. 😆 I should have written something in Latin somewhere; that's a nice touch.
There's A LOT of people in Librebook this evening! Holy moocow.... #Brussels #booksky #writingcommunity
Somewhere in this mass of leaves there's a turd that my dog just dropped. I think this could make for an interesting new take on #whereswaldo. #dogs #doglife
Just finished Norwegian Wood, by Murakami. What an amazing book! It's like a road trip through the early years of adulthood, a bit like The Catcher in the Rye but with miso soup instead of burgers. 10/10
Writers of Bluesky: I'm sure there's a good story to be written from this picture. 😉 #booksky
Perfect day in #Brussels: sunny weather, art nouveau and the #PompomPom craft cider festival.
Spending time in one of the coolest places on Earth: a church that has been converted into a bookstore. Perfect! It's in Maastricht, in the Netherlands #booksky
One of the coolest things about #Brussels is that you meet people and find activities from all over the world. These are my bigos and beer during Polish Day. Yummy!
Look at my baby, there among the big boys. 🥲😍 #doloresandothersorrows #booksky
I celebrated #indiebookstores Day with a visit to one of my favourite spots in Brussels: Librebook, of course! Look at all that book-shaped happiness!
Just finished this book that is wonderful in its weirdness. It'll have you thinking 'this is beautiful, but what's going on?' until the end, when you realise it's even better than you thought. Besides, I got to meet the author the other day and I had a bit of a fanboy moment. #booksky
