Been using my Steam Deck in desktop mode while docked, and its wild how good its been compared to my full i9-9900 and RTX 2070 PC. Its obviously not the same but it comes very close considering my PC was $1400 in 2017 and I only paid $700 for the launch Steam Deck(not OLED, 1TB)
Not me having to implement my own Mathf and other math and data type extensions again in a new engine! (Trying to port some stuff from Unity/Godot but it's going to be a bit I guess before this is all fixed) Today's going to be fun XD
Why is Tilemaps so unstable, tilemaps haven't meaningfully changed in YEARS, how does it STILL crash when I try to do the rectangle placement of random tiles?! UGHHHHHHHH UNITYYYYYYYYYY
For anyone else reading it's specifically supposed to just be bundles that reduce the bundle cost based on items you already own. Steam has this too, and it's a good feature! Unfortunately "Dynamic Pricing" as a term now has a negative connotation, surrounding abusing shopping history/habits.
Found my Steam Link and updated it, It seems to max at like something between 720p and 1080p 20-30fps, but I really love this thing I used it a ton in 2017/2018. I'm going see what else I can do with it, there has to be some cool stuff.
Yeah I'm right now using 'Everything' to find all folders named library, then sorting by path, because they're almost all in the same folder. So it's not TOO bad but oof, it's gonna take a bit
This is the first time I've done this, so I ASSUME the reason stuff is going nuts is because it's doing some initial sync across the drives... but I hope they're okay and this isn't some kind of recursive death spiral.
I am not a linux expert but I THINK I just finished setting up my raid 1 setup on my server across the room. Now we can pray it doesn't explode on me.
Took some time to mess with ECS stuff which got me some more entities. Again not that I need that many. The downside here is It's become much harder to figure out like inter-entity interactions. Bullets hitting enemies? Enemies Seeing Player? ECS makes it mildly more confusing for sure.
The funny part is that I don't really need THAT many... like.... 200-300 is probably FINE but lowering the count gives me more processing overhead, and the more overhead I have the better so I can do stuff like flow map path finding around obstacles or something haha.
Spent some time last night messing with survivors-esk enemies. I was able to effectively triple my enemy count vs using CharacterBody2D just by moving all the position data inside a single script, and then batching and using multithreading to split up the overlap testing.
Time to get some sweet 1 degree weather! How exciting! *He says wanting more than anything to not go outside*
I think another silly option might be adding like the suggested auto response you see on some messaging apps. Where it gives you like 3 response options like "Ok" and "Yeah" all leading to the same conclusion though. Emily is Away I think did something like that where there were response bubbles
I have a few others around so I'll check tif they're in there as well. This is system config #3. #1 was a supermicro with an intel Xenon but that was the one had a different PSU and was having a kernel panic during the install no clue why(picture) #2 was an i5 that got stuck and couldn't get to BIOS
Spending today hacking together a server made from spare parts to host a Hytale instance for my friends. Hopefully it runs better than my 2012 MacBook Pro i7-3700 and 2x4GB DDR3 RAM
Boring night of me resetting a windows PC... I'm gonna build web stuff for kicks for a bit. I had an idea it's not a new idea but I have nothing better to do and I think it'll be fun!
This started because I have a Steam Deck and the Steam Machine is higher spec than my current PC so I might switch, but I NEED to know which games in my library or wishlist I won't be able to play... This dropdown in particular sucks, why can't I see a list of just untested or incompatible games?
A piece of UI stuff that's SUPER powerful and useful that I feel more things should have: The minus/negative/anti-filter. If I can filter for a thing, I should also be able to filter out that thing. Movies tagged with +Action -Romance Games with +Adventure -RPG Anime with +Drama -Isekai
Reminder this Black Friday to look out and be aware of price manipulation! Don't assume big % off = good deal. Spotted these today. These don't have the specs of a $2k laptop marked down 70%+ they're 5-6 generation old, low end i3 CPUs. Nearly $600 is practically a scam for this spec hardware.
Today's unnecessary thing I made from scratch because why not? A dialog system! It's a WIP but overall it's parsing into a nice tree structure ready to run Likes: Short, concise, symbol based Identifiers Dislikes: Relies on strict indentation and new line rules
Another thing I'm trying to solve is why Zed/OmniSharp can't see the packages I installed as part of my project, these are installed through the package manager, but it thinks the namespace doesn't exist, and I'm not sure what to do. It builds and runs in Unity and doesn't show errors there.
Just joined and can't do an intro because looks like those who just joined don't have permission for the intro channel
And we got Steam Deck I'm hype One issue is I can't seem to get the LT working so... That's pain... But I'll get it at some point I wonder what other non steam games I can get running on Steam deck this way... I wonder if...
