☠️ Ichabod Cranium ☠️
@snowintheair
Adjacent to many identities, living in the liminality between them all. I didn't search for magic...it found me.Highly Strange. He/They. 🗝️
Hoping it’s pickles for me next weekend. Went away this weekend and before I left none of this was ready. now some is over ready.
One of the few decorations I have on my wall in my office (beyond student pictures) is The Magic Circle.
Sadly, the Florida GOP has now made the state inhospitable for Outdoor Girls…
People seem to like flowers today, so have some front garden lilies…
This was on the ‘buy me cheap while I die’ stand at the plant place when I went in the spring…
Took our 15yo niece for comic book/gaming, record & used book crawl…I always have to check the weirdo book section…someone traded in this set of classics.
Friday night lawn mowing yard cocktail brought to you by this nearly empty bottle of Bullett and some garden mint.
Speaking of 'big eyes on flies' here's a male horse fly that was on my deck a few weeks ago. THOSE are big eyes...and when it crawled up, I thought it was a moth due to how big the fly was. Males do not bite...females do.
Lots of flies masquerade as bees! Sometimes you can tell by how they fly. :) Here’s a hover fly that landed on me the other night…If you can see them close enough, you can usually tell by the eyes.
Meet the Grass Carrying Wasp (not my picture, but I’ve seen them fly in like this). They’re a non-aggressive wild pollinator that builds grass nests in window sills and packs them with baby grasshoppers for their babies.
Ok…guessing still open. Here’s a pic I took a couple years ago…this is on a window sill/frame on our second floor…More clues here as to the murderous culprit. I can also explain why the ones from today were on the deck haphazardly...
Baby grasshoppers (DOA) on my deck. Before I spill the tea and explain how they end up on my deck, I’ll give you a change to guess. The ants have started to take them apart and take them away…they’re not the cause though (that’s the only hint I’ll give you).
Hummingbird health is important and they often can get sick from dirty hummingbird feeders. A little water/bleach soak every couple weeks and changing out the syrup at least weekly…I do them one at a time so there’s always a feeder available to the birds…
Back when we 1st moved here, I saw a flash of red in the deep weeds at the perimeter of our property; I found a stand of beebalm, long forgotten & left to fight off the weeds. I uncovered it Since then I’ve been seeding/transplanting it in different areas and I love the flashes of color.
Another putting things in jars project in action…Yes I’m super uptight about my flower-prep…I ask the elderflower/berry plants for permission to harvest & promise I’ll honor the gift (by not wasting & being very intentional).
A few weeks back I bought these beautiful prints from @pailbn.bsky.social and I love them. I can’t wait to frame them and haven’t decided if they’re for home or office. The message is so lovely & honest. They have a web store… you should check it out!
AccuWeather trying to get to glass-half-full as the world burns around us six ways to Sunday due to climate change.
Oh, great. I don't even have to leave the yard for that...And I'm really a homebody anyway.
The answer is yes. Though this article also states: "While women also produce testosterone, men produce it at levels 10 to 20 times as high. There is no F.D.A.-approved testosterone treatment for women."
Update…I got a text from the pro-Israeli spambot this morning conceding defeat.
I know it’s looking grim still, but really happy after a few days here…the goal is inky black. And still another 30+ days to go. All of these will go into the same container eventually and be mixed so variance if it still exists at that time will be balanced.
I’m convinced that the ‘pit in bright sunlight part of this recipe is all about oxidizing the magic from the walnuts. While none of our windows are direct sun right now, I’ve started with 3 or 4 hours on the deck and now things have a charcoal tinge…
