Hardly anyone is using X regularly. Now, regular use of Facebook and YouTube, on the other hand...

2025 Pew Research shows only 10% of US adults say they use X/Twitter "about once a day", whilst 52% and 48% report using Facebook and YouTube, respectively, about once a day. X's typical daily users are young people (18% of 18-29 year olds), men (15%), black people (13%), and Republicans (12%). Those using it least are older adults (9% of 50-64 year olds and 4% of 65+ year olds), less educated people (9% of people who only have a HS diploma or less), Democrats (9%), white and rural people (8%), and women (6%).

Q: There's a long line of comedians who take younger comedians under their wing or give them advice and Bill Cosby is famously one of them. Maybe he has made some enemies in the comedy world with that. Do you buy any of the argument out there that all these allegations are a conspiracy to demolish his legend and legacy? Or are there just too many women making allegations for that to hold water?

A: In America, a man is innocent until proven guilty. I don't know. Yeah, there are a lot of women. You go for prosecution – you don't go for money. That's the thing that makes me raise an eyebrow. If somebody does that kind of act to you, there's not enough money somebody can pay you to hush up or whatever. Bill has always been highbrow when it comes to his take on comedy and he's very set in his ways, his thoughts and his patterns. He's a comedy snob in a lot of ways. We have always tried to make Bill proud. He's a comedic legend and a giant. It's just sad that if it's not true, then you've stained a man's reputation and legend. But if it is true, a crime is a crime. I would just say that if my sister was going to go have drinks with Bill, I'd say sip water. Don't touch that coffee!

Immigration, the economy, and his being a "fighter" were the primary reasons why people claim to have voted for him after willfully overlooking the history of abuse and incompetence.

A poll showing that the primary reasons Trump supporters voted for Trump were immigration, the economy, and that he was a "fighter". Much lower on the list was the idea that he would end conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine.

Fascinating what you find digging into the elaborate polling the Yanks have done. Even among white Americans, Trump is really only popular with older (50+), uneducated men. That's it. He's not got the young white men, either. The gerontocracy of it all!

Pew Research polling found that if all nonvoters had voted in 2024, Trump had an advantage among them and the results likely would have been around 45% for Harris, 48% for Trump. This was in contrast to 2020, where if all nonvoters had voted, Biden still would have had a clear lead (49% to Trump's 43%).

The Obama administration, however, was more fearful of his military expertise than it was hopeful about his supposedly moderate leanings. The CIA tracked him down to Karachi in 2010 and in February of that year persuaded ISI to arrest him.

“The capture of Baradar was predominantly instigated because of his role in the war rather than because of the likelihood that he was going to suddenly make peace,” a former official said. “The fact is, the Pakistanis held on to him all those years in large part because the United States asked them to.”

In 2018, however, Washington’s attitude changed and Donald Trump’s Afghan envoy, Zalmay Khalilzad, asked the Pakistanis to release Baradar so he could lead negotiations in Qatar, based on the belief that he would settle for a power-sharing arrangement. “I had never seen any real substantiation of that point, but it just took on a kind of mythic idea,” the former official said.

Baradar signed the Doha agreement with the US in February 2020, in what the Trump administration hailed as a breakthrough towards peace but which now appears a mere staging post towards total Taliban victory.
