Exciting to see the new infrastructure in Ann Arbor, MI with @streetcraft.bsky.social . Nice application of actuated bike signals, cast in place concrete, and qwick kurb.
London’s use of the 4” nearside signals to provide LBIs at every signal on cycle highways is such a nice touch. Very easy to do.
Enjoyed cycling in London! Will post my thoughts after my trip. Some photos so far. Cycling on the left is not too bad!
Lovely day in Utrecht. 65km bike ride with @bicycledutch.bsky.social around Hilversum and Soest (amazing signaling there !). Then kayaked in Utrecht where a motorway became a canal, and ended the day with beers in Gouda with my friend Seamus. Simply perfect, gonna miss this place.
I love watching Dutch signals cycle. The phase combinations they pick are so smart and optimized

Went over to Boston to check out some updated separated lanes. Loving the new concrete separation! Cast in place is such a cool technology, looking forward to its further use in the region.
Great day in NYC! Love seeing these new 4” bike signals, rock blocks in ped spaces, and of course double wide bike lanes. Sadly couldn’t get the 3rd Ave green wave to work but we may have been on the wrong blocks at the wrong time! Curious if @nyc.streetsblog.org knows more.

Massachusetts’s MUTCD amendments now has guidance that NO TURN ON RED should be the default approach to new signaled intersections in the commonwealth. This is great work @massdot.bsky.social !
@streets.boston.gov please remove the pre cast curbs from the mass ave bike lane across from clear way street. This is a major safety hazard for all road users and someone will be hurt.
Loving Arlington’s newest RRFB crosswalks that come with this white light that illuminates the crosswalk and pedestrian when the button is pressed. Makes the crossing so much more visible!
Witnessing a funny phenomenon on Hammond Pond Parkway today. I saw more or the same level of drivers wait at this red arrow without a No Turn on Red sign as I did see wait for the no turn on red sign. There’s something psychological about a red arrow that is stronger than a sign.
Can anyone read this? Cc @massdot.bsky.social please replace the no turn on red sign at concord turnpike and park ave in Arlington!
Arlington’s first “raised crossing”. It happened by accident while installing new curb cuts, but it’s a happy one IMO! Excited to see more in the future with Mass and Appleton and others coming soon.
Some new signals in Portsmouth. Glad they kept the no turn on red restrictions but that signage placement is not ideal.
They forced everyone off my train at park street and the train is disabled. @universalhub.com
Studying for finals now and thinking about my time in the Netherlands. Was so lovely to cycle there. Here are some photos from Amsterdam in July. Love to see high quality built-out infrastructure, can’t wait to build more of it in the US!
Lexington painted and extended their bike lane mass ave bike lane green! Green bike lane paint costs about 12 dollars a square foot sooo,, definitely a lot of money. But hey, good safety for intersections. Also added new blank out No Turn on Red, though the timing isn’t perfect on them.
Grateful for @massdcr.bsky.social converting this signal at Matignon from a pedestrian signal to a full one featuring a blank out sign (that activates before the pedestrian phase !). Much safer intersection now!
Review is in: Aberdeen’s new separated lane is amazing! Love being so close to the trees in the center of the roadway, and the transitions are well designed with minimal waiting.
