I am so glad I found strawflowers at the greenhouse this year, they're such pretty flowers, and the petals have a really unique texture.
A couple quick pictures done in Procreate, I'm finding I like it for fun, low stakes pictures, but I don't think I'd want to try something complex, the minute I need a reference I want my desktop and second monitor.
It's my birthday today! I'm 41, so officially into my 40s. And 2026 will be my fifth year of drawing consistently, I drew a ton as a kid/young adult then stopped pretty much an entire decade, before starting back up in 2022.
Oh yeah I did some quick insect studies the other day, out of an old textbook I have.
Done in Procreate on my iPad mini, started while playing Wildsea with some friends last night. Procreate is much more annoying when you don't have your Apple pencil with you and you have to use your finger.
one of my New Years Art resolutions was do more silly stuff, and more meme drawings because I take myself way too seriously
My first picture from 2025 was also a picture of Nadia! She's fun to draw, it's the eyes. Done in Procreate.
#artsummary Apparently a year of dark moody lighting. I fell off drawing pretty hard in the summer and have been trying to drag myself back on track since then.
#artadventcalendar Christmas dragon!! Started this a few weeks ago, just finished the last couple tweaks.
#artadventcalendar This might be my favourite stained glass picture and colour variation that I've done. The roses were a ton of work but I'm still super happy with how they came out.
#artadventcalendar Why hoard treasure in a big heap on the floor when you can wear it?
#artadventcalendar This was for a Discord art contest, for a formal intedimensonal gala. I figured mixed media would be a fun interpretation. The wings were a last minute addition and I had to cut around the arms to slide the wings in behind
#artadventcalendar Another piece of copper wire wrapped jewelry, this time with a labradorite stone. I love labradorite, it's so pretty and varies so much from stone to stone. (sold)
The view from Lower Kananaskis Lake, from summer 2024. I went backpacking with a friend for a weekend, beautiful place. #artadventcalendar
#artadventcalendar An axolotl based sea serpent. Definitely on the less scary side of things. Another stained glass pattern, this one would be relatively simple to make.
An older monster OC, a more insectoid centaur. I think he has inside bones on the top half but an exoskeleton on the bottom, and it's all heavily armoured.
This is from 2023 and stands out because it's one of the first times I drew a portrait in a single sitting. When I was younger I avoided drawing humans, so to get to a point where I could actually draw a decent picture of a person without taking it days was pretty gratifying. #artadventcalendar
#artadventcalendar A study of Dave Gahan from the music video for Ocean by Goldfrapp, which is one of my favourite songs. www.youtube.com/watch?v=pSoz...
For awhile there I was making a lot of wire-wrapped jewelry. Another thing on the list of stuff I'd like to get back to eventually, I still have a whole bunch of beautiful stones to use. This is copper and tree agate (and sold) #artadventcalendar
My profile pic, an Albertan Rocky Mountain witch. I would like to redraw her at some point and make it a little more of an intentional self portrait. The necklace, gloves and boots are all things I own (well, one glove is, I lost the other years ago) #artadventcalendar
#artadventcalendar my other handmade rug, made entirely from scrap fabric! I took a class to learn how to do this and it took ages but I am so happy I did it. It's shockingly heavy too, something like 7 pounds if I remember right.
